Class One Traffic Management working on behalf of Amey used our Intellicone® Incursion Prevention and Warning System (IPAWS) with Intellicam® on the A737 in Scotland while they completed resurfacing works, to add an extra layer of protection for the workforce and deliver a more cost effective solution than traditional traffic management.
Brian Wilks the Construction Manager (Traffic Management) for Amey - South West Scotland had this to say about the system:
“The introduction of digital traffic management allowed us to reduce site manpower from 14 operatives to 7. Over a 7‑day period, this delivered a significant cost saving and in some areas improved overall site safety.
By significantly reducing the number of operatives exposed to live traffic environments, we effectively halved our “boots on the ground” risk, which is a major health and safety benefit.
The Class One team were instrumental in successfully implementing this approach. Given the volume of schemes being delivered daily, opportunities to introduce digital solutions can sometimes be missed, but their proactive input ensured safer, more efficient and cost-effective outcomes. Overall, I’m extremely pleased with the results.“
