This week, we were delighted to host a SMARTester Open Day at the home of SMARTester in Bradford on Avon.

The event provided delegates with the opportunity to meet the team, learn more about SMARTester and TestSense, and take part in a series of presentations and live demonstrations.

A key focus of the day was the introduction of UP1b Edition 4 procedures and the impact these changes have on tightness testing. We also showcased TestSense, our recently launched free tool within the SMARTester app. Developed in collaboration with EDF, E.ON and Octopus Energy, TestSense is the first feature released in response to the new UP1b Edition 4 procedures. It enables meter operatives to quickly and accurately calculate the volume of pipework and fittings, to determine the permissible drop with confidence.

Throughout the day, delegates took part in breakout discussions, sharing insights and experiences around the implementation of the new UP1b procedures and the challenges and opportunities they present. The excitement continued with our SMARTester Box Building Challenge, where guests raced to build the perfect box for a chance to take home a bottle of wine. Well done to Colin Archer from MPAAS for building a SMARTester box in just 11.5 seconds!

The event concluded with lunch, providing further opportunities for networking and valuable conversations with our team and industry colleagues.

This year’s annual clay shoot took us to a fantastic new venue at Black Powder Spirit Company, Weeton, where we enjoyed a brilliant day hosted by Driven Clay Co Lancashire.

After breakfast, teams headed out into the Lancashire countryside for expert-led shooting across four stands, with plenty of refreshments and homemade elevenses to keep everyone going. The competition soon got underway, with flash bang clays adding an extra challenge and double points up for grabs.

A huge thank you to our guests from JN Civils Ltd, R&R Utilities, Skewb, Pgl Pipelines, NL Utilities, Cadent Gas, Network Plus and JN Bentley for joining us and helping to make the day such a success with your enthusiasm and friendly competition.

We finished the day with a relaxed lunch and a drink at Black Powder Distillery, Weeton – the perfect way to round off a fantastic event at a great new location.

With the continued growth of the business and our expansion into the water, nuclear and future energy sectors, we’re delighted to announce the appointment of three new Managers within SVI.

First, our Customer Service team has welcomed a new manager, Lisa Rollins. Lisa brings several years of customer service management experience and joins us from her most recent role as Operations Manager for a bespoke furniture manufacturer.

We’re pleased to welcome Adam Holland as our new Plant and Hire Manager. Adam previously worked as Contracts Manager for a leading UK infrastructure services company, where he was responsible for managing resources, including direct labour and subcontractors. He brings extensive experience in financial management, planning, contract controls and Health & Safety leadership, with a strong focus on maintaining safe working practices and high standards.

Joining the team as Project Manager is Annalise Beddard. Annalise has five years of experience across the Civil and Defence Nuclear sectors and holds a degree in Project Management. In her previous role with an aerospace company, she led a large-scale research and development programme, overseeing the journey from development and qualification through to production readiness and volume manufacture.

All three Managers are based at our Head Office in Bradford on Avon.

We’re delighted to welcome Lisa, Adam and Annalise to SVI. Their combined experience and expertise will play an important role in supporting the continued growth of the business across our key sectors, and we look forward to the valuable contribution each of them will make.

Over the past two days, we were delighted to exhibit at two successful SGN roadshow events in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The events provided a fantastic opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces, meet new industry professionals and explore opportunities for future collaboration.

We were proud to showcase a range of our innovative solutions, including CoilControl, SMARTester, Mini Cutter, Renset® and our 180 Pipe Coil Trailer, giving attendees the chance to see first-hand how our products support operational efficiency and performance in the field.
