The most efficient way to dry clothes is on a drying rack. Putting them on radiators will block heat from warming your house and tumble dryers cost a fortune. Use the spin feature on your washer to get out as much water as possible but then air dry at least 12” or 30cm away from the closest radiator.

The best way to dress for cold weather inside and outside in winter is thin layers. These help by trapping warm air in between them, not only acting as insulation but allowing you to remove or add more when needed to help regulate your body temperature. A good base layer will also help take any moisture away from the body as liquids are terrible insulators and in cold conditions will allow the heat to escape easier.

Energy blackouts are abhorrent in this day and age and potentially deadly. A camping stove allows us to make a hot water bottle, warm drink, easy meal.. I know a lot of people won’t have the funds to buy one of these but if you do, or have the ability to buy one for someone who may need it, they could save lives. I’m sickened by the government, energy companies and the state of the world. Please let’s support each other during this cruel time we’re living in.

In all electric homes, rather than putting your heater on to heat your bedroom, buying a hot water bottle can save you money. A full kettle will cost around 6p to boil while a 2kw heater will cost around £1 an hour to run. You’ll be better off within a week.
