Tamdown’s Wet Bandits take part in the Dragon Boat Race 🎉🚣

On Saturday 6th June, 11 very nervous sailors took on their first Dragon Boat race. (One of us had done it before… as a drummer… and conveniently forgot to mention just how terrifying it is!).

The weather set the tone early — rain and wind, which, as it turns out, are not ideal when you’re about to race across open water… into the wind.

We had three races against two other teams in each round — your best two times determining whether you made it through to the semi-finals.

Unsurprisingly, we didn’t make the semi-finals!

But honestly — it didn’t matter. Everyone agreed it was a brilliant day and incredibly well organised. The team spirit was fantastic, with everyone supporting each other and keeping morale high (even post-swim).

Big well done to all the Wet Bandits 💙

And thank you to everyone who donated and supported us. With Nexus Community Trust matching our fundraising, we raised an amazing £2,860 for Brave Futures — which is the real win!
