📣 We’re recruiting a Finance and Accounts Manager (SME) to support our growing team near Brampton, Cumbria.
Salary: £38-45K - Full-time

This is a hands-on finance role with real ownership — covering everything from day-to-day accounts through to month-end and management reporting. You’ll work closely with the MD and operations team in a tech-led, forward-thinking business that’s open to new ideas and continuous improvement with a view to growing with our ever-expanding business.

At our Christmas party, we also took the time to recognise Hayden, who marked five years with AB Energy Centre this year.

Hayden joined us as a young apprentice and has grown into a fully qualified engineer and a genuinely excellent one. His technical ability, attitude, and professionalism set the standard, and our customers love him.

To top it off, Hayden also won the award for most positive customer feedback in 2025 — a direct reflection of the way he represents both himself and the business on site.

We celebrated at the weekend and, for once, properly switched off. Good food, good company, a few drinks, and then on to bowling and games with some healthy competition to round the night off.
It was relaxed, and exactly what the team deserved after a demanding year.

Alongside the fun, we also held our first annual team awards, recognising individual wins and the effort that often goes unseen and sometimes unsaid.

Strong team. Well earned recognition. A fitting way to close out the year.

This week we held one of our regular internal training days. These sessions exist for one reason: to ensure knowledge is shared, not siloed.

Experience in this industry is hard-won. If it isn’t passed down, it’s lost. That’s why our training covers everything from customer service and fault-finding to complex wiring and hands-on welding. Senior engineers focus on the why behind decisions, not just the task itself.

The same approach applies on site with our customers. We take time to explain how systems work, how to operate them properly, and how to spot issues early. Our technical support is about building confidence, not gatekeeping information.

Better knowledge leads to better systems and better outcomes.

🎉 Celebrating 10 Years of AB Energy Centre!

This month marks ten years since AB Energy Centre began — one van, two men, and a desk in the bedroom of my parents’ semi-detached house.

In 2015, we stored our parts in my late Nanna’s garage. Every job mattered, and every pound counted (still does). What we did have was the drive, the skills, and the willingness to do a great job.

Since then, we’ve worked from:
• a log cabin in the back garden,
• a 300 sq ft unit Shed at Warwick Mill,
• our first proper 2000 sq ft industrial site at South Mill,
• and today, The Cattle Shed - Maryholme Industrial Estate — a site we now own and operate as our long-term home with over 8,000 sq ft of storage.

We’ve grown from a father-and-son partnership into a 14 + strong team delivering renewable energy installations and specialist maintenance across the North of England and South of Scotland.
Today, we maintain around 600 biomass boilers and have become the largest and most capable biomass maintenance provider in the region — something we’re genuinely proud of.

This milestone belongs to the people around us:
• Our engineers and apprentices who raise the standard every single day,
• Our office team who keep the business running, no matter how busy we get,
• You, the loyal clients who trust us with their heat and power systems year after year,
• and suppliers and partners whose support allows us to deliver at the level we do.

To all of you — thank you. The success of this business is built on all of our effort, trust, and commitment.

What hasn’t changed in a decade is how we work: integrity, technical excellence, clear communication, and doing the job properly — whether that’s servicing a 15-year-old boiler or installing a large commercial Solar PV system.

The next decade will be about strengthening the team, expanding our capability, and developing Maryholme into a first-class operational hub.

Thank you to everyone who’s been part of the journey — staff, customers, suppliers, friends, and family.
We’re only just getting started.
