Lifting Greenery to New Heights at Culture House 🏗️

A great moment on site this week as our trees were carefully craned up to the roof of Culture House.

This kind of operation takes planning, precision, and a solid team on the ground….from logistics and lifting to positioning and planting. Seeing trees take their place at height is always a reminder of how transformative green infrastructure can be in urban buildings.

The team press on with planting after another smooth and safe lift. More progress to come.

🎉 Celebrating a Brambledown Legend – Congratulations on Your Retirement, Jeff! 🎉

Today we gathered in the office for a pizza lunch to celebrate the retirement of Jeff Minto, who finishes today after an incredible 40 years of service at Brambledown.

Jeff has been part of the Brambledown family for as long as most of us can remember. From contracts management to site supervision, his experience, calm approach, and commitment have shaped so many of the projects and people who’ve come through the company over the decades. Tomorrow is also Jeff’s birthday, so we had a double celebration to mark the occasion! 🎂🎈

We’d also like to take a moment to recognise Kevin Blakelock, who retired last month after another remarkable 40-year career with us. Although we don’t have photos from Kevin’s day, we celebrated in the same way with good food in the boardroom and plenty of appreciation for everything he brought to the business. Both Jeff and Kevin leave behind huge legacies and will be missed by everyone who worked alongside them.

And as we say goodbye to two long-serving members of the team, we’re also pleased to welcome a couple of new faces to Brambledown:

👋 Megan Vickers, joining us as an Estimating Assistant
👋 Michael Hunter, joining as a Contracts Supervisor and bringing a wealth of knowledge, experience, and skills to the company

A big thank you and warm congratulations to Jeff, best wishes again to Kevin, and a very warm welcome to Megan and Michael.

🌷 **Bulb Planting at Barnwell Field** 🌷

Yesterday, our team completed bulb planting at Barnwell Field, one of the eight Sunderland tree planting sites.
In less than half a day, 55,000 bulbs were planted — a fantastic effort by everyone involved!

By the end of today, all eight accessible sites will be complete, bringing the total to an incredible 145,000 bulbs planted across Sunderland.

🌳✨ Progress Update from Mowbray Park, Sunderland ✨🌳

Brambledown are proud to be working with Sunderland City Council on the exciting new play area development at Mowbray Park.

Works on this £250,000+ investment into the park continue – with works including turfing, planting, seeding, fencing, footpaths, play surfacing and equipment installation well underway.

👦👧 The new play space includes a wide variety of play equipment designed for children of all ages, from climbing frames and swings to slides and imaginative play features.

We are also installing brand new adult outdoor gym equipment, making this area a fantastic space for all generations to enjoy.

It’s been a pleasure bringing this project to life, and we’re looking forward to seeing families and the local community make the most of these new facilities very soon.

You’ll support our Estimating Department with pricing jobs, sourcing supplier quotes, handling paperwork, and helping us keep everything running smoothly.

✔️ Previous office/admin experience

✔️ Good communication and attention to detail
✔️ A positive, can-do attitude
