EPISODE 3 DROPS AT 7:45PM TONIGHT 🎥

This one has a bit of everything.

Works continue across Cwm Small Business Centre as we push the refurbishment programme forward, invest in our own spraying equipment and start seeing a huge difference between the roofs we inherited and where they are now.

Then things take another turn…
We discover scaffold boards have been stolen from site, deal with the usual challenges of running live projects, and following meetings with Blaenau Gwent Council and the existing contractor, BES is brought in to help take on a third industrial estate.

We head over to Llanhilleth to see exactly what we’re taking on before returning to Blaenant as the original estate starts drawing towards completion.

Episode 3 also gives a bit more of the personalities behind the business and the reality of what goes on between the polished finished-project photos.

Episode 2 of our Blaenau Gwent Council Refurbishment Series is now live.

**One Project Becomes Two.**

In this episode, works continue at **Blaenant Industrial Estate**, where the roof coating to Building 1 is completed and side elevation cladding works begin.

At the same time, part of the BES team moves across to **Cwm Small Business Centre**, where scaffold er****on, roof preparation and coating works get underway.

Running two live estates simultaneously allows us to keep the wider programme moving efficiently, even when individual areas are affected by access restrictions, scaffold delays, trees, weather conditions or extreme heat on the roofs.

This episode gives a good insight into the planning, coordination and day-to-day problem solving involved in delivering refurbishment works across multiple live industrial sites.

Industrial Cladding & Protective Coatings Operatives
BES Steel Buildings / Blackwell Engineering Solutions Ltd

📍 Blaenau Gwent, South Wales

BES Steel Buildings are recruiting experienced industrial cladding and protective coatings operatives for a major industrial refurbishment programme across two industrial estates in the Blaenau Gwent area.

The project consists of refurbishment works to over two dozen occupied industrial units, including:

Industrial overclad works
Re-cladding works
Roof and wall protective coating systems
Giromax roof, wall and gutter coating applications
Industrial gutter replacement works
Trimline steel gutter installations
Cut edge corrosion treatment
Roof and wall preparation works
Jet washing and surface preparation
Sheet metal preparation and repairs

Operatives will be involved in the preparation and application of industrial coating systems using:

3,300 PSI airless spray systems
Roller application
Brush application

The role will also involve:

Working from scaffolding
MEWP and scissor lift operation
Coordinated use of hand tools and access equipment
Working safely within live industrial environments
Health & Safety

Health and safety is absolutely paramount on these projects.

Applicants must understand:

PPE requirements
Working at height procedures
Safe use of access equipment
Industrial site safety standards
Following company RAMS and working procedures
Preferred Experience & Tickets

Preferred:

IPAF 3A / 3B
CSCS Card
Experience in industrial cladding/coatings
Experience using airless spray equipment
Commercial roofing or refurbishment background
Duration & Opportunities

Each industrial estate is expected to require a dedicated team of approximately four operatives for around four weeks.

Total initial programme:
📅 Approximately 8 weeks of continuous work

Subcontractors
Experienced teams/gangs

Progress Update – St Austell

We’ve been sent some progress photos over the weekend from a recent project in Cornwall, where the client has started erecting their new BES Steel Buildings frame.

Foundations and anchor boxes were set out from our drawings, with primary and secondary steel now being installed on site.

It’s always good to see our buildings going up efficiently, with everything aligning as intended from design through to installation.

As with all of our projects, we remain on hand throughout to provide guidance and answer any queries as the build progresses, helping ensure everything runs smoothly on site.

A strong indication of how the project has gone so far — the client has already placed an order for a second building, which is now moving into production.

We look forward to seeing this one completed.

Last week on site at a local business park.

Removal of failed steel gutters and installation of new plastisol-coated trimline systems, formed to suit the roof pitch with pre-engineered corners for a clean, watertight finish.

Straightforward job, but one that still demands accuracy and experience to get right.

Our team aren’t just fabricators — they’re installers, problem-solvers, and used to working across every stage of a steel building project.

That’s what allows us to step into jobs like this and deliver properly, without fuss.

Monopitch rafters through the shop this week.

End plates, haunch gussets, brace connections, purlin cleats — all fabricated, prepped and coated, ready for dispatch.

Nothing complicated, just solid steelwork done properly.

There’s something satisfying about watching it move through the stages —
cut, weld, prep, spray… then out the door ready to be built.
