🎉 Celebrating Success Across Our Apprenticeship Programmes 🎉

We’re proud to congratulate several of our apprentices on successfully completing their qualifications — a significant milestone and a reflection of their hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence.

👏 Kara Dawson, Trainee Electrical Designer, has officially completed her Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of South Wales through the Network 75 scheme. Her achievement highlights her resilience and determination, and she now brings a solid foundation in power systems, electronics, and sustainable technologies to her role — skills that are vital to the future of engineering.

👏 Luke Wyatt and Ronan Templeton have successfully completed their Higher Apprenticeship in Construction with Bridgend College, earning both their HNC in Building Services and NVQ Level 4 in Construction Site Supervision. This accomplishment demonstrates their strong work ethic and passion for the built environment.

👏 Finally, a big congratulations to our Heating and Ventilation Craftsperson NVQ Level 3 apprentices — Matthew Toms, Toby Griffin, and Jordan Budd — on completing their qualifications. Each received excellent feedback from their colleges, reflecting their skill, commitment, and craftsmanship.

We’re incredibly proud of all our apprentices and look forward to seeing what they achieve next!

🚧 Project Completion at Ysgol Gyfun Gwent! 🎉

We’re excited to share our recent project at Ysgol Gyfun Gwent in Newport, where we teamed up with John Perkins Construction to install mechanical and electrical services for the new sports hall. Highlights include the installation of an Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) system for low-temperature hot water and domestic use, plus underfloor heating and mechanical ventilation with heat recovery.

But that's not all — we’re now moving on to the next phase: a brand-new Energy Centre to power the main school building and upgrade existing systems.

🌟 Inspiring the Next Generation 🌟

Last week, our team had the pleasure of visiting John Cabot Academy in Bristol to deliver an engaging building services career talk to their Year 10 pupils.

The session was led by our Managing Director Adrian Hurley, who shared valuable insights into the building services industry and the wide range of exciting career opportunities it offers. He was joined by our Trainee Quantity Surveyor Maisie Vaulters, who spoke passionately about her own apprenticeship journey highlighting the skills she’s gained, the hands-on experience she’s enjoyed, and the many benefits of choosing an apprenticeship pathway.

It was fantastic to see such enthusiasm and curiosity from the students, and we’re proud to play a role in supporting and inspiring the next generation of industry professionals.
We look forward to continuing to build meaningful connections with local schools and helping young talent explore their future careers. 👷‍♀️👷‍♂️🔧📐

Last week, the F P Hurley team had the fantastic opportunity to attend the CITB's Women in Construction event at Bridgend College. The event was dedicated to promoting the construction and building services industry as a rewarding career path for females, inspiring the next generation of women to consider careers in this dynamic sector.

We were excited to engage with over 65 female pupils from four different high schools. The day involved hands-on activities where our team worked closely with groups of students, demonstrating real-world skills and sharing insights about the variety of careers and pathways available within construction. It was inspiring to see such enthusiasm and curiosity from the pupils, many of whom expressed interest in pursuing a future in the industry.

The event also featured inspiring guest speakers who shared their journeys and successes, helping to break down stereotypes and encourage confidence among the young women.

Overall, it was a great success, fostering enthusiasm and opening eyes to the diverse opportunities that a career in construction can offer.

We’re proud to support initiatives like this that promote diversity and inclusion in our industry and look forward to seeing more talented women thrive in construction in the future!

🌟 Social Value Update!🌟

Last week, our team had the incredible opportunity to visit Whitchurch High School and inspire the next generation. We kicked off with an engaging introduction to our company and the vital role we play in the building services industry creating safe, efficient, and sustainable environments for everyone.

The highlight of the visit was our hands-on activities. Students participated in a mechanical exercise, connecting pipes to understand water flow and plumbing systems. They also explored electrical basics by learning how to wire a plug safely and correctly.

We believe empowering young minds with practical skills and industry insights helps build a brighter future. Thank you to Whitchurch High School for welcoming us and to the students for their curiosity and enthusiasm.

🚧 Exciting Project Update: Drefach Wool Museum Decarbonisation 🚧

We’re proud to have completed the decarbonisation works for the Drefach Wool Museum in Carmarthenshire, with Knox & Wells as the main contractor and the National Museum of Wales as the end client.

Our scope of works involved removing outdated gas-fired boilers from both the main and search engine buildings. We installed cutting-edge Panasonic air to water heat pump system units feeding the main building and Samsung units for the smaller search engine building.

🌟Interesting Fact: Drefach Wool Museum is among the first sites in the UK to feature the groundbreaking M series cascade system, which includes four installed units.

💡 Challenges & Solutions: As the new Panasonic units were quite innovative with limited market information, our team attended specialised training courses to gain the necessary expertise, ensuring a smooth installation process.

This project marks a significant step towards sustainable heritage preservation. The four 30kW Panasonic units are now efficiently powering the main building, contributing to a greener future.

👏Well done to everyone involved on this project.🎉
