We also raised funds for Breast Cancer Now, supporting the important work they do in funding research, promoting breast cancer prevention, and raising awareness.

It was great to see so many of our team joining in and wearing pink to celebrate, support, and make a difference 👏

Contract Award Announcement 🔔

We are proud to announce that IrvinGQ® has received a fully signed $24.8M contract to supply Naval Decoy Systems to the U.S. Department of Defense, with deliveries beginning in September 2026.

This award covers follow-on production of the Floating Decoy System, a proven passive radar decoy that protects naval ships by misleading radar-guided anti-ship missiles – even in the event of total ship power loss.

This contract represents the culmination of years of dedicated work and sets the groundwork for what has the potential to be a long-term programme, reinforcing IrvinGQ®’s commitment to supporting U.S. and naval forces worldwide.

We’re proud to share the remarkable wartime story of Albert Walton, an RAF Wireless Operator and Air Gunner from the North East of England, whose life was saved twice by his Irvin parachute during WWII.

Serving with 101 Squadron on top-secret “ABC” Special Operations, Albert and his crew faced some of the war’s most dangerous missions. On two separate occasions, when his aircraft was compromised, it was silk that carried him safely to the ground, earning him a place in the Caterpillar Club.

This powerful story is a reminder of the courage of Bomber Command aircrew and the lifesaving legacy behind IrvinGQ® parachutes.

Today at IrvinGQ®, we came together for a special celebratory lunch to thank our incredible employees for their dedication and hard work throughout FY25.

This week we had the pleasure of welcoming Caterpillar Club member Fredrik Hedén and his son, Hugo Hedén, to IrvinGQ®.

Fredrik ejected from the Swedish fighter Saab 37 Viggen after it suffered a flameout due to a fuel leak followed by an explosion. The incident took place in February 1981 in Karlsborg, Sweden, following a bomb-dropping mission.

During his visit, Fredrik toured our facilities and met the talented workforce responsible for manufacturing the parachute that saved his life over 40 years ago.

He also kindly shared his story about the accident with everyone, offering a powerful insight into that day and the vital role our equipment played in his survival.

In Fredrik’s own words, “That day that I ejected was my second birthday.”
He added, “It is something very special to meet the hard-working team that have saved so many lives over the years.”

It’s always an honour for us at IrvinGQ® to meet our Caterpillar Club members in person — a powerful reminder of the real purpose behind everything we do: to save lives.

This year, we were once again deeply honoured to see our poppy parachutes take to the skies as part of the commemorative jumps for the Battle of Arnhem.

The annual Arnhem Celebrations are a powerful reminder of the courage, sacrifice, and legacy of those who fought in Operation Market Garden in 1944. For IrvinGQ®, it's a privilege to contribute in our own way—helping to remember the fallen and to ensure their stories continue to be told.

Thank you to the key organisers for continuing this tradition and for including our parachutes in such a poignant tribute.

We will remember them.

This week, we remember Arnhem.

In September 1944, Allied forces launched Operation Market Garden, one of the largest airborne operations in military history. Thousands of troops dropped behind enemy lines, many carried by IrvinGQ® parachutes.

We continue to support the commemorations in honour of those who served and those who never returned.

We were delighted to welcome Andrew Slade, Director General – Economy, Energy and Transport, along with members of the Welsh Government, to IrvinGQ® last week.

During their visit, they toured our textiles and metals facilities, guided by our in-house experts. The team was impressed by the advanced technology and world-leading innovation that sits at the heart of IrvinGQ®’s systems.

We also explored how IrvinGQ® contributes to the Welsh economy and community, and discussed opportunities to strengthen our partnership to drive growth, skills, and innovation in the region.
