Once again lucky to of been asked to work for a beautiful property in Ogmore by Sea.

A job we finished last year, just haven’t had time to put photos up unfortunately

When I first met Phil and Angela Speechley they had a good understanding of what they wanted but weren’t sure on the design and materials to use.

After a few meetings, I showed them the black anthracite porcelain from Rp Williams Jones with the light grey borders from Brickability.

This was a choice they were obviously over the moon with and excited to get booked in and work to progress.

This was a very labour intensive job, as you can see from the photos access was down some very steep and narrow steps. But we aren’t shy of hard graft here at T H D.

This was another beautiful landscaping project to be involved with, and thanks for Phil and Angela trusting me with the design and once again extremely happy customers at the end of this project.

Once again I feel very lucky to have such lovely customers, thanks to Phil and Angela for being lovely people and keeping me and the boys fed and drinks with the coffees and teas etc It really is appreciated.

Once again big thanks to Justin and John who’s hard work for the company doesn’t go unnoticed

And also to

LItchard aggregates, john Daveys, Rp Williams Jones and Brickability.

Another job we finished last March. When I first had a phone call and a chat with Jamie Williams, Pencoed House Estate I felt very proud to of been asked to quote to do work for such a beautiful venue.

One of the oldest buildings in Glamorgan and once home to descendents of a King, Pencoed house is one of the most prestigious wedding venues in Wales.

When conducting the landscaping here we had several meetings with Jamie and his family as it was vital for us to make sure we intertwined modern and historic design sympathetically to allow the 600 year old building to still take centre stage

Whilst being a modern structure, the steal marquee named (Cwrt Clive) follows strong lines with large glass panelling allowing plenty of natural light to flood the space but without over shadowing the charicteristics of Pencoed House buildings.

Our job was as follows.

Excavate old court yard, (we ended up taking out about 400 tonnes) my self, uncle John and Phil John working tirelessly to get the job excavated and ready within set deadlines.

We then shuttered up and insulated the floor, and added double membrane as drawings specification and added reinforced steel for the floor insuring all building was mm square for the steel building to fit perfectly on.
( big thanks to jiggie for the helping hand with the shuttering)

We then pumped in 10 cubic metres of concrete and levelled off once again mm perfect as Jamie always wanted a level threshold coming out of the main wedding double doors.

Once the beautiful steel/glass building was fitted we then had 2 weeks to prep all inside floors, with DB Francis adding underfloor heating, then me and the boys self levelling and laying 120sqm porcelain and grouting up, and prepping and laying 120 sqm of resin.

This job was completed start to finish in 4 weeks. Massive thanks to all my staff who worked so hard with late hours and weekends to insure it was ready for a bride and groom on their special day. I got told they all thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful building!

Once again can I say what a pleasure it was dealing with the Williams family, and all the staff at Pencoed House Estate. I listened to exactly what Jamie wanted and delivered that to the highest of standards, once again a extremely happy customer for T H developments.

This job is up there with my all time favourites jobs I’ve ever created. So much fine detail from the setting out of sunken areas to all the contrasting borders. A lot of graft 450 sqm of porcelain, 530 linear metres of double borders cut from 9*6 slabs.

A job we finished over a year ago now. (Bare with me as we were so busy last year I slipped up with putting photos of projects from various gardens throughout the whole year)

When I first met Gary and Jane, Gary had a good understanding of the layout he wanted, but was unsure on the design and materials to use.

As soon as I met up with them both I knew I wanted to create something special for them, so I suggested using porcelain and creating double borders cut from 9*6 slabs to picture frame the whole of the property and the border of the patio areas. We then choose antricite black and grey. Which I think suited the house and the beautiful location perfectly. I then suggested running this down the steps, and using oyster clad to break the steps up and throughout the sunken fire pit areas and the hot tub we also cladded the house brick plinth with the antricite black.

We excavated all the area out (approx 350 tonnes came out) and laid around 1800 blocks to create the lower level for the hot tub and fire pit. Once again walls got cladded in the porcelain to match all surrounding patios. All patios had 180mm of compacted type 1 underneath and all slabs were individually primed and then grouted with ardex exterior grout.
We cladded the rear of the walls with Siberian larch and oiled to bring out those beautiful colours which again I thought was a beautiful contrasting feature for the garden.

I must say what a privilege it was to work for such a lovely family. Gary and Jane both listened to my ideas and I listened to what they wanted and I think we all created such a beautiful space for them all to enjoy in such a beautiful part of vale of Glamorgan.

It was a lot of work and a lot of fine detail but i throughly loved landscaping this garden.

We also laid a new driveway, in Tobermore tegula blocks, and new feature cobbled circle as you come into the driveway

Once all patios were laid and grouted and cleaned, we then moved onto the planting and turfing.

90 tonne of top soil prepped and raked and

900 sqm of turf. All fences were reinstated back as before and added a new gate at end of the steps so they can gain access to there field.

Professional photos and a drone being taken this summer.

Which I can’t wait to see.

Massive thanks to all the boys who worked so hard along side me on this project, especially Jack and Ryan.

Once again thanks to Gary and Jane hunt for being such a lovely couple to work for.

This really was a favourite of mine
