July was good! Given what a hot month it was, you would reasonably have been disappointed if it had just been average.

Luckily quite a few things came together and the majority of our solar sites actually had a record month.

Overall we generated 790 MWh in July which is 17% better than our previous best month. It's also brought our year-to-date generation up to a "best ever" 3.2 GWh.

Shame all these heatwaves are so hard on the humans, animals and plants!

As a new initiative we’re offering free mentoring to local, impact-led organisations to help them with challenges they might be facing. This would take the form of 22.5 hours of our time over up to 12 months.

We offer a listening ear and the combined experience of Brighton Energy's staff and directors. Initially we are offering this mentoring to organisations in BN postcodes.

There's a free Energy Advice Session at Heene Community Centre in Worthing 12pm-3pm on 18th August. Organised by our friends at Climate Resilience Centre Worthing - CREW this is a great opportunity to ask your questions.

With the help of journalist and documentary maker, Acacia Redding, and this delightful bunch of young drama enthusiasts, we filmed BEC’s Energy & Carbon Footprint Workshop yesterday.

We’re creating a free educational video to help teachers run our workshop themselves - so watch this space!

They say never work with children or animals, but we absolutely loved it. The kids' energy is high and positive. Their vision of the future is bright. They were such fun!

HUGE thanks to all the parents and children who volunteered their time.

SPECIAL thanks also to our volunteer production assistant - who pulled an “all nighter” after the football to help from 7:30am - and runner, who did a super job covering wardrobe, snacks & drinks! 🏃‍♀️

Today marks the start of Community Energy Fortnight 2026, launching two weeks of events, activities and inspiring stories celebrating the growing power of community-led energy across the UK.

Running from 1–14 July, Community Energy Fortnight is Community Energy England's annual, nationwide campaign that brings together hundreds of organisations and reaches thousands of people. It's a chance to showcase the incredible work happening in communities across the country, celebrate the impact of community energy, and inspire more people to get involved.

We've already walked for the World Climate Relay and are busy installing our innovative EV battery reuse pilot project at Rathfinny Estate to do our bit to for this year's .

The Community Energy England Summer Conference in Birmingham was excellent. Great to mix with start up Community Energy Groups along with the well established groups we have known for years! Plus climate action groups and local authorities from all over the UK.

Even on cloudy days we are optimistic! As are our friends Hilary & Daniel Edelstyn who held a fanstastic art auction to raise funds to build a community-owned power station in Clacton-on-Sea.
