We’ve kicked off works at this incredible Grade I listed building in the centre of Bristol🏛️✨
Part of the former Blackfriars Priory site, Quakers Friars has been a Quaker meeting house, a registry office, and more recently home to a number of restaurants. It’s also a scheduled monument - so this one comes with a lot of history & responsibility.
We're undertaking a programme of extensive, sensitive waterproofing repairs to the external fabric of the building. Over the next few months we’ll be carrying out roofing works, stone repairs, rendering, and careful preservation of the original features.
Inside, we’ll be drying out the building, carrying out specialist plastering and carpentry repairs, restoring leaded windows, and uncovering historic windows that have been covered up for decades - bringing the building back to some of its former glory.
Scaffolding is going up this week, and we’re working closely with Historic England throughout to make sure every detail is handled with respect for the building’s heritage.
