π Ten years ago this week, Cameron Balloons helped make aviation history once again.
π On 23 July 2016, adventurer Fedor Konyukhov completed the fastest solo nonstop circumnavigation of the world by balloon, landing near Bonnie Rock, Western Australia, just 11 days after launching from Northam, the same site from which his journey began aboard his Cameron-built R550 RoziΓ¨re balloon (RA-2900G).
Battling Antarctic winds, storms, temperatures below -20Β°C and altitudes of up to 10,000 metres, Fedor broke Steve Fossett's previous record by almost two days; a feat that, ten years on, still stands. π
From pioneering the first successful nonstop round-the-world balloon flights to supporting record-breaking expeditions across the globe, Cameron Balloons has played a part in almost every major milestone in modern extreme ballooning.
It's a legacy we're incredibly proud of and one that continues to inspire the next generation of adventurers.
Congratulations once again to Fedor and everyone involved in an achievement that remains one of the greatest in ballooning history! π
