Another project underway today at our Maidenhead site.

Our flooring team is on site installing a brand-new Altro safety floor, providing a hard-wearing, hygienic and slip-resistant finish suitable for demanding commercial environments.

As with all our flooring projects, attention to detail is key. From preparation of the subfloor through to the final welds and finishing details, the team is focused on delivering a quality installation that will stand up to daily use for years to come.

Out and about on a Saturday morning, surveying new projects and teaching one of my sons the importance of conducting yourself professionally in a customer’s home.

Today he was in charge of the LiDAR scanner, capturing accurate room measurements and creating detailed floor plans for upcoming quotations. It’s never too early to learn that good communication, respect for a customer’s property, and attention to detail are just as important as the practical skills.

The next generation of the business is already getting hands-on experience, learning how we deliver accurate quotations and professional service from the very first visit.

From this side of the fire screen, it looks like nothing is happening.

On the other side, an entire team is working through the night to deliver Phase 2 of this ward refurbishment.

Existing floor finishes are being removed, subfloors mechanically prepared and latex applied in readiness for the new flooring installation. At the same time, three theatres have been fully cleared, protected and sealed, allowing painters to begin the next stage of works over the coming days.

Working within a live hospital environment demands meticulous planning, strict infection control measures and seamless coordination between trades. Every stage must be carefully managed to maintain programme deadlines while ensuring the facility continues to operate safely.

A huge amount of work is taking place behind the scenes, but the results will soon speak for themselves.

The big reveal is on Tuesday.
