Mk1 Golf GTI drive shaft refurbish and CV boot replacement. Next job is to fit them so I can test drive the car for the 1st time in over 10 years!

Back from powder coating and really happy with the finish.

A few of them could have done with a little bit of filler where they are clamped by the door, as that’s where they rust, but i don’t believe you see that area as it’s behind the door seal.

I’ll look at putting a bit of insulation tape or something in that area, so it’s not metal on metal when I fit them.

Overall well worth getting done 👍

Just seen this complete GTI up for 2k, seems like an awfully cheap project for someone looking to get into Mk1 ownership.. almost tempted myself as it’s only a 45 minute drive away 🤔

One down one to go, forgot what a messy job this is, Joints inspected, packet full of grease* new clips and boots and reassembled ready to fit once the second one is done.

New video wont be ‘till this weekend, but it’s a long one as I’ve been working on the car every day getting bits done!

*spreading grease everywhere is optional, apparently! 🤦‍♂️
