Another project completed in Warwickshire!

This stunning oak-framed veranda to the rear of the property was designed, manufactured, and installed by our team from start to finish.

The perfect space to relax, entertain, and make the most of those long summer evenings. All that’s left for the customers to do is pull up a chair, crack open a cold beer or pour a glass of vino, and enjoy their beautiful new outdoor living space.

Oak isn’t the only option when it comes to beautiful timber framing.

We also build with Douglas fir and Cedar — resilient softwoods widely used across Europe for high-quality structural timber frames.

These timbers offer excellent strength, durability, and character while often being a more cost-effective alternative to oak. This is exactly why I’ve stopped buying off-the-shelf joinery products.

This frame was sold as “solid oak” by a well-known local supplier, but in reality it’s been poorly laminated from multiple pieces of what I can only describe as cheap hardwood, then wrapped in a thin (~6mm) oak veneer.

I went against my better judgement and purchased it due to workload pressures at the time — and now it’s failed.

As professionals, we take responsibility where it’s due. I’ve since remade the frame properly in solid oak and will be installing it shortly to suit the original door.

I did try to raise this with the supplier, but it’s fallen on deaf ears. For clarity — all recommended finishes were used and installation was carried out strictly in line with manufacturer guidelines.

Lesson learned (again): sometimes “saving time” upfront ends up costing more in the long run.

First fix complete on this massive media wall! 🔥

Now comes the big test — hoping the measurements are spot on for the panoramic fireplace and the 100-inch TV. Everything is starting to take shape and I can’t wait to see the finished result.

This one is going to be a showstopper. Stay tuned for the final reveal 👀

Upstairs partition is now going in, really starting to take shape. No door frames on this first fix—everything will be finished in solid oak 👌
