Who we are . . .

Formed in 1938, we are one of the oldest amateur radio clubs in the UK. Our members range from those who are just starting out in amateur radio to those who have decades of experience. Our interests include contesting, IOTA, ROTA, RAYNET, construction, data modes, DMR and more. We are an active club, and in the last twelve months some of our members have visited HAM Radio 2019 in Friedrichshafen, Germany, and the RSGB Convention in Milton Keynes. We have operated ‘portable’ from locations near and far.We have had talks and demonstrations covering a range of topics including DMR, construction techniques, numbers stations to name just a few. We can help if you would like to get started in our hobby, or wish to progress further. Peter G0GPH, our Chairman and Training Officer, is a very knowledgeable radio amateur and a fully qualified and experienced teacher. Peter can arrange training for the Foundation, Intermediate and Full licences. We are an RSGB registered examination centre, and we offer online examinations with immediate indicative results. Our members are always happy to answer technical questions, provide advice about antennas and equipment, and mentor newly qualified licensees as they get on the air for the first time. New members will always receive a warm welcome at our club. If you would like to visit us, join us, or find out more about training please get in touch by sending us a message.
