We work across the private and public sectors, crafting energy efficient, low impact buildings from local and sustainable materials. Our background is in traditional timber framing, which calls for both exacting attention to detail and an understanding of and respect for the material of our craft. A few months on from topping out, and the Passivhaus annex on Anglesey is looking rather different!

The exterior is now complete, with timber cladding, triple-glazed Norrsken windows and the finished roof bringing the simple form of the building together. We particularly like how it sits alongside the existing farmhouse — clearly contemporary, but with its scale, proportions and roofline carefully considered to complement the original buildings.

Behind the finished exterior is our high-performance timber frame system, insulated with Steico Zell wood fibre and built with a lot of attention to airtightness and thermal bridging.

Great to see this one reaching the finishing stages — and a nice opportunity to share some photos without scaffolding for a change!

This week we topped out a Passivhaus annex on Anglesey - a 70m² single-storey annex to a traditional farmhouse, designed for comfortable, low-energy living.

Despite a very narrow access track and some challenging coastal winds, we were able to bring the full timber frame shell to a weathertight stage in just four days using our off-site panelised system. That speed not only keeps programmes tight, but also reduces exposure to the elements — which definitely helped this week.

Thanks to the teams at Caernarfon Commercials / CCH and Buckley's Mobile Crane Service for making a tricky lift run smoothly.

Next up: windows, cladding and roofing. Looking forward to seeing this one take shape.

As usual, we’ve been too busy building to keep up with the updates, but here’s a quick snapshot of what we’ve been working on over the past few months.

From a balcony and a bird hide, to a subterranean passivhaus, a disabled-access affordable home and a timber-framed porch, it’s been a varied run of projects!

We’ll be sharing more over the coming weeks, including an upcoming traditionally timber-framed Passivhaus we’re particularly excited about.
