A devastating fire broke out inside Vice Versa’s warehouse, leaving the warehouse beyond repair. Although solar was not the cause of the fire, the impact prompted Vice Versa to reassess every aspect of fire prevention and system safety.
As part of the re-build, De Groene Generatie BV installed a total of 704 ArcBoxes on the new solar PV system.

Different approaches to
Installation can be applied to every single DC connection or only the higher risk (hand-assembled) connections added to extension cables. A fire risk assessment can also guide this decision and will consider factors such as the use of the building if the is building mounted, and the combustibility of nearby materials, for example roof coverings, materials used in the solar mounting system and vegetation.

Electric is extremely energetic and results in incredibly high temperatures; these can reach levels far in excess of the melting point of metals. Painstaking research by our research team has resulted in new manufacturing technologies. These advanced processes can form the complex shapes required for the device from materials more commonly found in crucibles and furnaces and previously available only as simple bricks or blocks.

Solar fire incidents are on the rise!
We’ve updated the website with even more reported incidents.
As installations continue to grow worldwide, we’re also seeing an increase in fires linked to solar systems making headlines. While some cases have confirmed causes, others are still under investigation.
To support awareness across the industry, we’ve built a dedicated resource tracking these incidents and the latest news coverage.
Think we’ve missed an important story? Let us know - our team will review and add it to the list.

How Improves Solar DC Connector Fire Safety
The solar fire safety enclosure simply snaps around a DC connector to ensure that if an arc ever occurs, it is safely contained and doesn’t start a combustible materials in or around the installation. The effectiveness of the product has been independently verified by the KIWA fire test laboratory and Loughborough University. also reduces solar fire by protecting the connector from environmental damage (rain, sun, wind), the actions of rodents and birds and by providing strain relief to the cables.
