Cambridge Vacuum Engineering (CVE) design, build, and service electron beam welding and laser welding systems.

CVE’s headquarters are in Waterbeach, Cambridge, UK, operating from 30,000 square feet of office, manufacturing, and development space. In addition to our main design and manufacturing site in the UK, CVE has two regional offices in Beijing, China, and Massachusetts, USA, as well as a global network of agents. CVE applies professional engineering skills to customer requirements, resulting in innovative solutions to technical problems. We have a highly skilled workforce, an experienced engineering design department, and an extensive service team - all supported by a range of in-house test and diagnostic facilities.

Big thanks to Nick Edge who attended attended the Great British Energy - Nuclear & Rolls-Royce SMR Supply Chain Conference last week in Anglesey to hear more about the exciting developments taking shape across the UK's nuclear sector.

It was particularly interesting to learn more about Project Gwynedd, Great British Energy – Nuclear and Rolls-Royce SMR's ambitious project planned for a site near Wylfa.

It's great to see the overarching SMR vision moving closer to becoming a reality, creating significant opportunities for UK engineering and manufacturing businesses to play a part in delivering the next generation of nuclear energy - and creating more jobs.

A really positive event, highlighting the scale of the opportunity ahead for the UK's nuclear industry and its supply chain.

Plus Nick got to visit the train station with the longest name in Wales (and the UK).
Just don't ask us to pronounce it!

This year marks 25 years since Aquasium Technology acquired Cambridge Vacuum Engineering (CVE) - the beginning of an important chapter in our story.

Over the past quarter of a century, CVE has continued to evolve and innovate, building on its engineering expertise and developing electron beam welding solutions for customers and industries around the world.

While technology and markets have changed considerably during that time, our focus has remained the same: combining engineering expertise, innovation and close collaboration with our customers to solve complex manufacturing challenges.

A huge thank you to all the colleagues, customers, partners and suppliers who have been part of our journey over the past 25 years.

Fuelled by coffee the team are heading into the third and final day of FABTECH Expo. Cool sunglasses Chris Punshon!

It's been a great event so far. Over the past two days, the team has met people from a remarkably diverse range of industries, from nuclear to space development.

There has been strong interest in both our conventional electron beam welding business and Ebflow, highlighting the breadth of applications for electron beam technology.

With more than 50 potential new opportunities captured so far, and more discussions to be had today, it’s been a fantastic show, full of interesting conversations, valuable new connections, and exciting opportunities to follow up. As part of our extensive social and wellbeing programme for our employees, we recently welcomed Dr Paul Galbally, an applied psychologist and psychotherapist and Senior Lecturer in the School of Psychology at the University of East London to our offices. Dr Paul delivered an expert workshop entitled: ‘Why Some People Push Our Buttons - The Psychology of Difficult People.’

The workshop was a practical, evidence-based session that explored why certain people or situations can push our buttons and the different approaches we can adopt to improve communication and working relationships. Through greater understanding of human behaviour and our own responses, the session offered valuable insights into how we can navigate challenging interactions, manage difficult situations and build more positive, productive relationships in the workplace.

Initiatives such as this are another example of how we put our people first and is another reason CVE is a great place to work. A big thank you to Dr Paul for sharing his expertise and helping us explore practical ways to strengthen communication, understanding and collaboration across our teams.

It’s day one of Semicon West - Moscone Center 2026 in San Francisco and this year’s theme is: “Transform Tomorrow.”

October is shaping up to be a busy month for the Cambridge Vacuum Engineering team, with three major trade shows on the calendar!

Next week the team will be at Semicon West - Moscone Center (SEMI Americas) in San Francisco. Then later in the month we'll be heading to Greater Noida for The Battery Show India and Las Vegas for FABTECH Expo.

At each of these events we'll be meeting customers and industry partners and showcasing how our advanced hashtag beam and hashtag welding technologies are supporting innovation across a wide range of industries.

From advanced manufacturing and semiconductors to the rapidly evolving battery sector, we’re looking forward to some great conversations and opportunities to connect with people.

What a fantastic evening at the Cambridge Independent Business Awards!

While we didn’t take home the award, we’re incredibly proud to have been Highly Commended and to have received our own special trophy.

Being named a finalist alongside so many other great Cambridge companies is a reflection of the brilliant people who make CVE what it is, and we’re very proud of the culture and team we continue to build together.

A huge congratulations to the Employer of the Year, Gearset, as well as all of last night’s winners and finalists and thank you to the organisers for a great celebration of the Cambridge business community.

Almost three weeks on, we’re reflecting on a fantastic day at the Cambridge Dragon Boat Festival!

Team CVE was delighted to be among the 43 teams who took to the water for a brilliant day of racing, teamwork and fundraising in support of Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust - help make your hospitals even better.

We’re incredibly proud to have raised £1,115 towards the new Cambridge Cancer Research Hospital, and would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who sponsored us and supported the team.

Even better, the event as a whole surpassed its £50,000 fundraising target.
