This is Westminster Cathedral in London. It's a beautiful building, but, as it's well over 100 years old and Grade 1 listed, installing and changing communication and technology systems poses several challenges for the Diocese.
We have installed a wireless bridge from the Cathedral to the commercial building opposite, high up and out of sight. It doesn't affect the building's aesthetics in any way, and it's high enough up to prevent any potential vandalism.
The wireless bridge connects the Cathedral's CCTV cameras to their main recording system without messy physical wiring. Did you even spot the devices in the photos?
A wireless bridge is a simple way of linking two separate parts of a network when you cannot, or do not want to, run a cable between them.
Depending on building locations, laying cables can be challenging and disruptive, so wireless bridges can offer a practical and cost-effective solution. Typically, they are used to connect buildings, outbuildings or remote areas, to help internet and network traffic travel reliably over distances.
And, you can use a single, high-capacity wireless bridge to transmit multiple networks simultaneously, meaning one bridge can support your internet, CCTV video and access control.
