How do you introduce renewable energy at a live luxury hospitality resort without disrupting operations or guest experience?

That was the challenge at The Vale Resort

Nuvolt delivered a low-carbon energy upgrade at the Golf Club while the site remained fully operational, continuing to host guests, golfers, and both the Welsh Rugby Union and Welsh FA national teams during installation.

The project delivered:
• 168.81 kWp solar PV system installed
• 148.9 MWh of renewable electricity generated annually
• 6 dual 22 kW EV chargers introduced for guests and visitors
• Zero disruption to members, guests, or scheduled events

The system now enables the Golf Club to generate a significant share of its electricity on site while supporting the resort’s wider decarbonisation strategy.

For hospitality venues, decarbonisation must work alongside daily operations, not compete with them.

Powering a Community Hub for the Future 🌱

Work is now underway at The Gellideg Foundation Group’s Wellbeing Centre, where we’re delivering low-carbon energy infrastructure to support the long-term sustainability of this important community facility.

Supported through the Welsh Government’s Ynni Cymru capital grant funding scheme, the project enables investment in renewable energy and greater energy resilience.

Our team is installing a 32.2kWp solar PV system, enabling the centre to generate its own clean electricity, reduce reliance on grid supply and lower operating costs ⚡

The project also incorporates battery storage and low-carbon heating, creating a more efficient, integrated energy system designed around the building’s long-term needs.

All works are being carefully planned and delivered around day-to-day activity, ensuring services continue uninterrupted throughout.

Once complete, the system is expected to generate approximately 30.97 MWh annually, helping lower energy costs and supporting the centre’s ability to continue delivering for the local community 🌍

Energy decisions do not end when a project is signed off.

Once a system is live, it continues to shape costs, operations and reporting long after the original business case fades from view.

Attention naturally sits at approval and delivery, where decisions are visible and time-bound. What follows is quieter. Assumptions begin to age. Teams change. The context around the system evolves.

What matters then is not how quickly the decision was made, but whether responsibility for it remains clear as conditions change.

Energy outcomes that hold up over time are rarely accidental.
They reflect decisions that continue to be owned, not just approved.

10/02/2026

Energy decisions often feel collective at the point of approval.
They become far more individual over time.

When a project is signed off, responsibility is shared across teams, committees or roles. Once the system is live, that responsibility tends to narrow. Performance is reviewed. Assumptions are tested. New questions start to surface.

At that stage, the decision is no longer theoretical. It is tied to real outcomes and, often, to a named individual expected to explain why certain choices were made and how they are holding up.

That is why energy decisions are rarely defined only at the moment they are approved. They are tested over time, by how well those decisions continue to hold up.

No two sites use energy in the same way.

Operating hours vary. Access constraints differ. Loads rise and fall at different times. What looks straightforward on paper often behaves very differently once a system is introduced into a live environment.

Standard approaches tend to assume averages. Typical usage. Clean installation windows. Minimal interaction with day-to-day operations.

In practice, those assumptions are where friction appears. Infrastructure has to work around how a site already functions, not the other way round.

Energy systems perform best when they are designed around real operating patterns, not ideal ones. That is usually decided long before anything is installed.

Energy volatility creates a challenge that doesn’t always show up in savings models: uncertainty.

When costs move around, forecasts become harder to trust. Budgets feel less reliable, and investment decisions naturally become more cautious. That often pushes organisations towards short-term fixes that provide immediate certainty, even if they reduce flexibility later.

The issue isn’t volatility itself. It’s how decisions are made when uncertainty increases.
Organisations that handle this well treat energy as part of wider planning, not just a cost line to be minimised. That shift improves confidence not only in energy decisions, but across the business.

As organisations move into 2026, energy decisions are no longer judged just on savings or ambition.

They are judged on whether they hold up over time.

Cost still matters. Carbon still matters. But decisions are now tested against what happens next. Prices change. Operations evolve. Questions get asked later that weren’t asked at the point of approval.

Energy is no longer a one-off purchase. It affects budgets, planning, reporting and who remains accountable long after the project is signed off.

At the same time, many organisations do not have dedicated energy teams. Responsibility often sits with someone managing energy alongside other priorities, without the time or space to fully stress-test long-term outcomes.
In that environment, confidence comes from decision quality, not speed.

Organisations that move forward tend to slow the decision down, look carefully at trade-offs, and make choices that remain defensible as conditions change.

That is increasingly how energy decisions are judged.

This Christmas, we chose to support Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice, a charity that provides vital care and support to children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, and to the families around them.

The Nuvolt team raised £150 to contribute towards that work, supporting care, comfort and stability at a time of year that can be especially challenging for families.

We are proud to support organisations doing work that truly matters.💙🎄

Many multi-site organisations see the value of solar, but coordinating a programme across an entire estate can feel overwhelming. Each location has its own demands and priorities, and finding a clear starting point can be difficult.

The good news is that these concerns can be worked through. With the right approach, multi-site solar becomes a practical route to greater cost control, stronger resilience and long-term carbon reduction.

This article breaks down the common questions multi-site organisations face and shows how they can move forward with confidence.
