Job Title: Motor Vehicle Technician

Location: Cumnock, Ayrshire.

Type: Full-Time

Gibsons Auto Services is seeking an experienced vehicle technician to join our team.

Job Description:
As a technician on our team, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining the vehicles that come through our workshop. You will use state-of-the-art diagnostic tools, perform scheduled maintenance services, and ensure that all work meets our high standards, this role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, a commitment to excellence, and a customer-first, fix right fist time attitude.

Responsibilities:
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical problems on a wide range of JLR vehicles.
• Perform thorough inspections to help our service advisor team explain the work required on the car to help maximize the customer experience and profits.
• Perform routine maintenance services, including oil changes, tyres, wheel alignment, brake inspection and general servicing etc.
• Use diagnostic tools and equipment to assess vehicle conditions
• Communicate effectively with service advisors to provide accurate estimates and timelines
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment and adhere to all safety standards
• Ensure all repairs are completed to the highest standard and on schedule
• Keep up-to-date with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques
• Contribute to a positive team environment and workshop culture by collaborating with colleagues

Qualifications:
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a time served vehicle technician
• Proficiency with digital tools, diagnostic software, and general computer skills
• Strong knowledge of automotive systems and repair techniques
• Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with service advisors

Salary Range:
We offer a very competitive rate of pay, this will be discussed at time of interview, and will vary depending on skill level and experience of the individual

Working hours:
Monday to Friday – 8:30am to 5:00pm
Every second Saturday – 9:00am to 1:00pm (paid at overtime rates)

Both benches have gone through there annual audits and calibration so for your Delphi authorised injector testing we use the Hartridge Cri-pro,and for all makes we use the Sabre Cri Expert.

Another three reconditioned units going out to a customer today these units were done to authorised standards using the correct tooling and genuine parts.
The units were supplied with Delphi reports and oem coding for each unit which we are authorised for the entire Delphi common rail injectors.

We will be having our machine audits starting the 31st for three days so testing will be affected time wise.

Experience within the motor trade is absolutely essential for this role, along with the ability to work well with others, experience of social media interaction/advertising is also very important.

The job role will include, but not limited to the following:

✅ Staff management - managing the day to day running of a very busy workshop, increasing efficiency/output.
✅ Customer interaction - the ability to deal with a VERY wide range of customers, from late teens to retirees, race car drivers/track day enthusiasts to holiday makers and business vehicle operators.
✅ Business development - the key candidate will have the vision and drive to be able to research, cost and assist in the next steps for our company, helping move the business towards its next goals with our own product range of tuning hardware, advertisement and vehicle development.
✅ Experience and a genuine interest/passion in the VAG (VW/Audi group) market, particularly the VAG tuning and track day markets….. basically you’ll need to be a petrol head 😜
