One of the larger projects Northern Joinery Contracting has been involved in, supporting Dalcon Civil Engineering with specialist shuttering joinery solutions.

Working closely alongside the site engineering team, the scope of works included the installation of precision-engineered bolt box assemblies fitted with protective cone spacers. This detail was critical in maintaining structural alignment, achieving the required movement tolerance, and preventing grout ingress during concrete placement, while also ensuring bolt positions remained accessible following curing.

Another successful project delivery demonstrating the quality, accuracy, and reliability of our joinery expertise within the civil engineering sector.

In 2022, we completed a bespoke staff kitchen fit-out for Atkinson’s Building Contractors at Penrith Building Society in Penrith, Cumbria — transforming an underutilised area into a modern, practical breakout space.

Some examples of work we can undertake here at northern joinery this work was carried out while I was employed by Postlethwaite construction. Attention to detail was a must on this job to keep it up to the standards of the craftsmen the originally built the church.

Christ Church in Silloth was built between 1869 and 1870, with the main body completed in 1870 and its prominent tower and spire added later in 1878. Designed by Cory & Ferguson in a Gothic style, this Grade II listed building is located on Criffel Street overlooking the Silloth Green.

Key details regarding the construction:
Architect: Designed by C.J. Ferguson.
Materials: Built using local sandstone and granite transported by railway.
Style: Early Decorated Gothic.

The project involved subcontracting to a local construction firm to fit out an open space, creating private offices for client interactions and a meeting room for larger groups. A joinery shop was also included to design and create custom items based on the client’s specifications.

This is an example of a media wall we installed in our own home, showcasing how a blank wall can be transformed into a stylish and functional focal point. We also brought in a little project manager in on this on too.

The gable end fascias, soffits, and box ends had areas of rotten timber. To keep costs down while maintaining structural integrity, we carried out timber splicing where necessary. This helps preserve the remaining timber and prevent further deterioration.
