Another great day at the IRTE Skills Challenge, where Pelican is proud to be supporting the event as headline sponsor.

The Pelican EV Automotive Training team have been working hard behind the scenes to help keep everything running smoothly as competitors take on a new set of challenges today.⚡

We were also pleased to welcome members of the trade press to the media day, Richard Crump, Managing Director and Training Manager, Matt Cu***ng shared insights into the changing skills requirements facing the industry, from traditional vehicle technologies through to high-voltage and zero emissions systems.

That's why we've brought both a Yutong electric bus and a Yutong diesel coach to the event. Today's engineers need experience across a range of technologies, reflecting the reality of the fleets operators are running today.

Great to see teams from across the industry taking part, and we look forward to following the competition over the coming days.

Day one of the Institute of Road Transport Engineers (IRTE) Skills Challenge is underway, and Pelican Engineering Group is proud to be the event's headline sponsor.

We're also pleased to have our Yutong GT12 coach and E12 bus on site, with competitors carrying out elements of the challenge on the vehicles as they demonstrate their practical skills and technical expertise.

With the competition now in full swing, Matt, from our EV Automotive Training team, is busy assessing competitors as they put their skills and knowledge to the test.

The IRTE Skills Challenge plays an important role in recognising and developing engineering talent across the industry, and we're looking forward to seeing the skill, professionalism and expertise on display.

We were pleased to attend the unveiling of Kinchbus’s Loughborough new fleet last week, and it couldn’t have been better weather for the occasion ☀️🚌.

One of their new Yutong E9L electric buses was on display, with more set to enter service very soon. It was also great to see Head of Yutong Sales, Ian Downie, representing Pelican Bus + Coach on the panel discussion.

The event highlighted an important step forward in inclusive vehicle design, with these state-of-the-art buses built to industry-leading neuro-inclusive standards - an important area that’s often overlooked.

Credit to the Kinchbus team for helping drive this forward and setting a strong benchmark for the industry.

This project is also a great example of industry collaboration, with partners including Altro and Camira working alongside us at Pelican to bring this fleet to life, supporting local communities while driving a greener, more sustainable future👏.

Today, we celebrate an incredible milestone, as James Haigh, our Engineering Manager marks 30 years of service with Pelican Engineering.

Three decades of dedication, hard work and loyalty is something truly special. Over the years, James has supported generations of vehicles, colleagues and customers with the same commitment and professionalism every day.

As a fourth-generation family business, long service and loyalty mean a great deal to us, and reaching 30 years is an achievement to be proud of.
