On this 1979 Type 2 the previously installed Gemel / Serpi Star GR48T aftermarket
system was becoming a little troublesome

With no paperwork on the now obsolete system & no guarantee that a fix would be sustainable, the owners made the right choice to have us fully remove it & replace with a more up to date category one approved system to help secure the for many more years.

2023 A35s

The additional immobilisation automatically arms as soon as the ignition is switched off AND the drivers door is opened.
Arming is acknowledged by two flashes of the sidelight warning light in the instrument cluster.

If the immobiliser is not disarmed, it will allow the car to be started but as soon as a drive gear is selected the engine will stall.

The disarm sequence is a combination of pushes of the vehicles existing buttons.
Once the right combination of button pushes is recognised by the immobiliser, system disarm is then acknowledged by a flash of the sidelight warning light in the instrument cluster.

Just because most customers will never see it, doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be done to a safe, secure & sustainable standard.

So when the customer calls to book in for a ‘fuse blow fault’ we ask ‘what fuse is blowing?’

Just so we can get a head start on the tech look up for the to save a little time.

He tells us he’s not sure but all his fuses seem to be 32volt? 🤦🏼‍♂️

FYI, the 32V marking is just the fuse’s maximum voltage rating, not the voltage present in the circuit.
These are standard automotive blade fuses marked something like:

5 for 5 amp fuse rating & 32V for ‘safe up to 32 volt operating rating

So a fuse stamped “5 32V” means it will blow at roughly over 5 amps & it is designed to safely interrupt circuits up to 32 volts DC.

That makes them suitable for:
12volt & 24volt vehicles & systems that may see charging spikes above nominal voltage.
