It's National Dog Day! 🐶

There are always lots of hands on deck on our projects at Roder, and a few paws behind the scenes too!

What better opportunity to celebrate all our amazing four-legged mascots:

→ Sonny: a 10-year-old mini Dachshund with the attitude of a Doberman. Sonny loves nothing more than a day of eating, barking at postmen, napping, hiking and even paddleboarding!
→ Briar: a Whippet-Collie cross, who loves running but doesn't have the best vision... Briar often joins the team at site visits, to make sure everything is up to scratch.
→ Maple is a 3-year-old mini Dachshund. She's a fearless little explorer who loves running and swimming in the sea, and always makes sure she's heard loud and clear.

(Plus a bonus shoutout for Olly: Lee's wise 16-year-old housecat, who enjoys stealing seats, ignoring humans, and birdwatching...)

If you've been around for a while, you're probably aware of our collaborations with Voltloader.

Voltloader is a fully-electric transport service, offering a national eco-system of electric HGVs and reliable charging infrastructure across the UK, and working hard to improve the impact of transport on the planet.

In our line of work, we can't avoid transport, and transporting our equipment is a major factor in our operations. But when HGVs account for 20% of domestic transport emissions, it's important we look for conscious alternatives.

This is where Voltloader comes in. Across just two projects, they have enabled us to save over 2,000kg of carbon dioxide emissions - a reduction of 78% compared with a traditional diesel lorry.

We're wrapping up an amazing project with the RHS - Royal Horticultural Society, delivering structures to the inaugural RHS Sandringham Flower Show.

One of our biggest focuses with this event was delivering it in a way that aligns with our sustainability goals as a business. To make this happen, we:

→ Delivered this event with exclusively local crew members, contributing to the local economy while minimising travel requirements
→ Collaborated with Voltloader, who provided over 1,000 miles of all-electric haulage between our offices and the Sandringham site.

The project was a great success and the event was a testament to the work of the RHS. We look forward to hearing their plans for the future...

On Friday, we completed an annual safety inspection at Bedford Rugby Club 🏉

Darren went along to Bedford Blues Rugby Club to carry out an annual safety inspection on their 15m x 30m B-tent.

The CMC Marquee has been in place for over 20 years, providing an additional event space at the club for hospitality and private hire functions for up to 300 guests.

Darren was also present for the original build of this tent back in September 2005, and it's been in place ever since!

Bedford Rugby Club is a great example of the quality and longevity of our Roder products, especially our range of temporary structures. They may be 'temporary', but they are not just a short-term or one-off solution. With the right care and planning, these structures can be amazing investments in the future of your venue!

It's that time again... And it's a big one!


Every month at Roder UK, we're planting trees in our local community for each new social media follower, newsletter subscriber and order placed. We've already smashed our goal for the year thanks to your support, but we're still going.

We've counted up the numbers for June, and the results are in...

→ We planted a record-breaking 43 trees!
→ That's a total of 132 trees in just four months!

As always, we'll break this into trees and wetland restoration to remain in keeping with the makeup of our local Fenland area.

A HUGE thank you again to everyone on here, our email subscribers and our clients for making this possible. We had hoped to plant 52 trees, one for every week, in 2026, so we've been blown away by the response to this initiative so far 🥹

That's a wrap on RHS Sandringham Flower Show!

We have loved being a part of the inaugural flower show at Sandringham - so much so that some of the team had to go along and see the event in full swing...

Lee, Nic and Lisa all attended on the show days to see the incredible horticulture and gorgeous stalls on display!

Naturally, they had some favourites:

→ Lee loved the compost tent... And all the local Norfolk businesses!
→ Nic enjoyed the Pommery champagne and the creative Fortnum & Mason stall
→ Lisa found a great gin retailer and picked up her mum's favourite plant

We're back on site this week for the derig, alongside our electric haulage partner, Voltloader. Looking forward to wrapping up another fantastic show for the RHS - Royal Horticultural Society.

It's safe to say this summer is going to be one of the hottest on record.

Already, multiple all-time records have been broken, and across the UK people are struggling to adapt to extreme heat.

For our teams, this heat affects them and their work directly. Long days spent outside, physical work and intensive schedules are all made harder by intense heat, not to mention the very real risks to health and wellbeing it presents.

If you're an event organiser or fellow supplier with crews on site during the heat, here are the top things we recommend to keep your crews safe, well and happy despite the hot weather:

→ Ensure there are dedicated shaded or covered areas for crews to get out of the sun during breaks
→ Provide food and lots of water to keep everyone fuelled and hydrated
→ When putting up structures, consider allowing teams to put structures together before installing flooring to provide shelter from the sun
→ Encourage regular breaks and opportunities to get out of the sun
→ Adapt working hours to avoid the hottest parts of the day

Any type of extreme weather presents huge challenges to the events sector - organisers, suppliers and attendees alike. These are just some of the things we can be implementing on site to keep our people safe and healthy throughout the season.

In over twenty years of operations, Roder UK has NEVER bought a shipping pallet!

If you've seen Roder before, you may know us as the sustainable structures supplier, trying to improve standards for environmental practices within the events sector.

Our roots are in sustainability, and we've woven this mission into all our operations, including:

→ Converting our vehicle fleet to all-electric, and embracing EV haulage
→ Powering our offices and operations with solar power
→ Contributing to reforestation in our local area

Another key sustainability goal of ours is to achieve real circularity. Already, our structures are designed to be high-quality, long-lasting, and made from recyclable products.

But we also extend this reusable ethos to our shipping packaging; rather than buying packing or pallets ourselves, we exclusively reuse the packaging that we receive in deliveries from our German counterparts.

It's simple, but it's saved us from ever needing to purchase new pallets. Plus, once pallets can no longer be used, they are recycled to create more pallets - pretty circular!

Another small switch that makes a big difference over time, and one we would highly recommend implementing if you can!

We're delighted to have had our ongoing commitment to safe working and best practice validated ❤️

It's the season of our annual MUTA audits, and the results are in! We achieved scores of:

→ 91.67% for on-site activities
→ 92.75% for our premises audit

We are so proud of these scores - they are a credit to the work put in by our on site and back office teams, ensuring we meet the standards expected of us as a long-standing member of MUTA.

That being said, there’s always opportunity for improvement. We're always grateful for the ‘critical friend’ approach of our MUTA auditors, which will help us to work on improving those areas.
