We have just been finishing this contemporary conservatory in Sawbridgeworth on the Essex/Hertfordshire borders.
This is open to the whole ground floor, kitchen, dining and living space and is very minimalistic, black inside and out with crisp white walls.
It is very simple in design and is comprised of bi-fold doors, two triangular gables and an ultraframe roof, all with super efficient solar control glass in ultra slim aluminium.
The frames come from top quality manufacturer Sheerline and work like a dream.

Part of our business at Acacia has always been the restoration or replacement, with an exact match, of windows and doors in heritage buildings
We are on the recommended companies list of three local council listed departments
This is the project we have been working on in the centre of Finchingfield in Essex and have finished today.
It included replacement of the conservatory, with a new glass roof, making and fitting some new kitchen units to match the existing, major repairs and replacements of windows and doors and a lovely paint finish, using Farrow and Ball, in the colour pointing.
Many thanks to our brilliant clients
Nick and Nicky

What is the difference between a conservatory and an orangery?
In past times the terms conservatory and orangery were used to describe large heated spaces, mainly built of glass, these were used to grow plants, fruit and vegetables and were mainly built on large stately home type properties
In present times the terms conservatory and orangery describe glazed additions to any type of home, simple or ornate in design, large or small.
In straightforward terms a conservatory has a fully glazed glass roof and an orangery has a perimeter flat roof with a glazed lantern in the middle.
Normally the flat portion of roof would be finished in felt, EPDM-rubber or lead sheet, the internal perimeter ceiling cuts out some of the suns summer heat and is normally well insulated so helps keep it warmer in the winter and is ideal for fitting downlighters, creating a nice ambient light.
With the addition of high insulation solar control glass our orange ties are truly a room to be used all year round.
