It's all in the detail 🪨

Working on Cotswold stone homes is some of the most rewarding work we do at Root. These buildings have stood for generations, and our job is to bring them up to modern living without losing what makes them special.

A few things we've been proud of recently:

🔹 Stone walling laid course by course to match the original, so new work sits naturally alongside old
🔹 Original oak beams cleaned up and kept as the centrepiece of the room
🔹 Stone chimney breasts with log burners and built-in log stores
🔹 Deep stone window reveals, finished in oak, that frame the views
🔹 Dry stone walls rebuilt by hand, the traditional way
🔹 Oak porches and doors made to suit the character of the house

Character homes need patience, the right materials and people who care about the craft. That's what we bring to every project.

Update on our Warehouse rennovation!
This was a previously a warehouse we are currently fitting out as offices.
Next steps: fitting the eletrics, installing insulation and get a move on the internal plastering.

We have carried out extensive works on Regency vets in Cheltenham delivering a bespoke build and a complete structural development.

This project included:
- full structural development and refurbishment
- custom built consultation rooms
- Installation of state of the art operating equipment

Every element was carefully considered to create a high functioning veterinarian clinic designed for the team's and patients needs.

Welcome to OGR!
This is a 1.3 acre plot of land, we originally bought this site with planning permission for one house. However we revised this and have been granted permission for 4 beautiful family homes.
Construction is in progress, we have started the drain diversion and added a surface water outlet and are in the process of adding storm drains and storage.
Work is currently paused as we wait for some planning updates but as soon as we can get everything agreed with planning we will begin building the access road!

Costner Lane our Quantity Surveyor!

Costner's role as a quantity surveyor includes project cost planning, procurement and contract administration. He communicates closely with our clients and sub contractors to deliver maximum value and optimal results.

Qualifications and Experience:
- First-Class BSc in quantity surveying and commercial management
- Several years experience working across residential, multi-residential, commercial and public sector projects including a stint on the Gold coast Light Rail Stage 3 Project
- Cost management, tendering and contract administration on residential developments from up to 10m+

What do you like to do outside work?
'I like to keep fit and active. CrossFit is a big part of that, but I also play golf when I can. It's a great way to switch off and helps me stay focused when I'm at work.'

what do you like about your role?
'I enjoy having the autonomy to run my own workload and make decisions. I also enjoy building relationships with clients and supply chain partners, alongside working closely with the Project Manager, for a successful project. The team in the office couldn't be more helpful; the culture here is very supportive.'
