I was servicing a big 300kw warm air heater in a factory last week that wasn’t working very well. Turns out that the heat exchanger had rotten and was having fumes circulated around the warehouse.
It was only afterwards that the maintenance man told me he’d had staff complaining of headaches.
This has now been shut down and is awaiting repair/replacement.
It shows the importance of regular service and maintanence as sometimes there are dangers you just can’t see!

It’s cold this week! Make sure your boiler is reliable with a boiler service.
This is why is important to get your boiler serviced- parts wear out! In the middle photo you’ll see the bit of metal that’s there to check there is a flame in the boiler- without it, the boiler doesn’t work! They should be replaced every 5 years to keep your boiler running smoothly.

Now finished this great project. A complete start over of this damp basement.
New boiler in a new location, all new pipework and radiators, new heating controls so that the basement could be controlled separately from the main house and a brilliant use of a narrow bathroom, creating a wet room!

Heating not working? Make sure external white pipe isn’t frozen. If safe, poor hot water over to defrost or disconnect under boiler and use bucket until it’s warmed up!
