On this day in 2024, we completed the commissioning of the 50kW solar PV system at Bentley Wood High School.
Now, one year on, we’re proud to share the results from its first year of operation:
Generation (full year): ~42.5 MWh of clean electricity
Value generated: approx. £10,000–£11,000 in combined savings and export earnings
CO₂ savings: more than 9 tonnes avoided – equivalent to the annual emissions of several family cars
To put that into perspective:
Enough electricity to power around 127,000 average UK homes for one hour
Or enough to drive one of our new VW electric vans for 126,000 miles – over five times around the Earth
This milestone demonstrates the positive impact renewable energy can have on schools and commercial buildings — lowering energy bills, cutting carbon footprints, and supporting a net zero future for the school community and its pupils.
