CHAPTER: Salamanders

OVERVIEW: Forged in the crucible of war, the Salamanders are flame-bearers and warrior-craftsmen who hail from the volcanic death world of Nocturne. This brotherhood of onyx-skinned guardians has fought stoically to defend the Imperium for ten millennia, welding master-wrought weapons to hammer the foe into oblivion.

PRIOR-HISTORY UPON ARMAGEDDON:
Led by their Chapter Master, Tu'Shan, six companies of the Salamanders were deployed to Armageddon. Some of these warriors had been seconded'to Battle Group Xerxarian before the outbreak of war, while others were rallied from distant war zones. They would be deployed across Armageddon in almost every theatre of the war. Strike Force Tu'Shan consisting of warriors from the First and Second Companies, led Operation Imperator's relief of Hive Infernus.
With the assistance of strike forces from the Storm Lords and Subjugators, Tu'Shan's sálamanders would brave the massed force surrounding Hive Infernus launching targeted strikes on the xenos hordes crossing the Stygies river, beginning a guerrilla campaign against the Orks in the Diablo Mountains and aiding Imperial forces seeking to recover the Infernus South Forge Complex. The Salamanders would find themselves particularly at home in the Diablo Mountains, for the catastrophic fighting that occurred during Angron's Season of Blood had resulted in rampant volcanic activity, turning the Diablo Mountains into a hellscape marred by rivers of lava and reminiscent of the Salamanders' home planet, Nocturne.
