Our very own Dave Parker is getting into the saddle for a truly amazing cause. Please could I ask our connections to support Dave and give what they can. The below is a message from Dave -
LANDS END TO JOHN O’GROATS CHARITY BIKE RIDE
"On Thursday 26th May, myself and five mates are cycling from Land’s End to John O’ Groats, a distance of 954 miles with over 52000 ft of climbing, which we hope to cover in 9 days. We have planned the route so that we cycle just over one hundred miles per day staying in hotels along the route each night. We will have a support vehicle, transporting all our belongings, food, drinks and to provide any assistance in case we have any mechanical problems.
Each day we aim to be in the saddle for around 6 to 7 hours stopping for refreshments at regular intervals. (Hopefully, we will have a tail wind most of the way)
I am doing this for two reasons:
Personal Achievement, as I have never ridden this amount of distance in a month let alone 9 days, and I might as well start with the longest and hardest point to point ride in Britain.
Also, more importantly, I aim to raise money for a charity called AMMF which is the only charity that specialises in Cholangiocarcinoma (CCA) also known as bile duct cancer. My wife’s mother sadly passed away in December 2021, one month after she was diagnosed with this cancer, unfortunately this is a common occurrence as it is frequently diagnosed at an advanced stage, where it is too late for the cancer to be treated.
If anyone would be so kind to sponsor me for the bike ride, I have attached a link below to my “Just Giving Page” Any amount large or small will be appreciated, all monies raised will go direct to the charity. So hopefully one day this cancer can be diagnosed earlier, allowing patients to be treated and hopefully increase their life expectancy.
Help David Parker raise money to support AMMF
