D W Plastics Takes Part in Shine Charity Balloon Race in Memory of Sue!

D W Plastics is proud to support the Shine charity balloon race once again, with the race set to launch on September 1, 2025. This virtual event helps raise awareness and support for families affected by spina bifida and hydrocephalus. We’ve entered four balloons this year, all in blue to match our company colours. It’s a meaningful tradition for us – one started by our late Managing Director, Sue Burley, who supported Shine’s annual race with great enthusiasm.

“We would like to remember our blessed Managing Director, Sue Burley,” said Joanna Xenopoulos, Finance Manager at D W Plastics. “Taking part is our way of continuing something she cared deeply about.”

D W Plastics has a long-standing commitment to supporting local charities and causes. Over the past year, we’ve contributed to Tangmere Primary School to help fund books and educational materials, supported the Chichester Dragon Boat Race, and made donations via JustGiving in memory of Sue.

D W Plastics is proud to announce our support for the annual Rotary Club Dragon Boat racing event held on Sunday, July 7, at the Chichester Canal. Our donations went to the Teak Men team, who showcased remarkable skill and spirit, finishing third overall in this thrilling competition.

The event, which has been a staple in Chichester since 2012, brought together eleven teams competing for trophies and prizes along the picturesque canal basin. With vibrant dress themes and energetic performances, the day was a spectacular celebration of community and charity.

This year’s event raised significant funds for CancerWise Chichester and other local Rotary charities, continuing a tradition that has generated over £70,000 since its inception. The atmosphere was electric, with both adults and Scout groups delivering entertaining runs that captivated the crowd.

Key figures such as the Mayor of Chichester, Sarah Quail, and new local MP, Jess Brown-Fuller, were in attendance, adding to the event’s prestige. The Chichester Town Crier, Plowman, also made an appearance, spreading joy among attendees.

D W Plastics is delighted to have played a part in this successful event and congratulates all the teams, especially the Teak Men, for their impressive performance. We look forward to supporting more community initiatives in the future.

As sponsors of our local Chichester College Football ladies’ team, we are thrilled that the England Lionesses have reached the European Championships final.

It will boost women’s football and hopefully encourage more schools and colleges to promote the sport and inspire more youngsters to start playing it.
