Another out with the old, in with the new

It's been a while since I fitted a uPVC barn/stable door for someone, but this was the type of door the customer had been visualising when they moved into the property.

Beware of cowboys in the locksmith industry!

Having visited a customer today to change a lock that an emergency locksmith attended previously, the customer was charged an obscene amount of money by said emergency locksmith.

It would appear that the locksmith in question only had one tool to get the customers back into their property...that tool being a blunt drill bit and not much knowledge about locks it seems!

Not all re-entry to your home needs to be destructive, especially if they don't have a clue what they are doing! Please question if that is a locksmith's first go-to!

Fortunately I was able to get the old lock out as it was jammed inside and splayed outside, then replaced it with a shiny new high security, anti snap euro cylinder.

Another day another door.

Anthracite grey Alto door from Endurance Doors, with pull handles on the interior and exterior with AV3 multi lock and coded keys to secure the customers home.

Think this one looks great with the sunshine out today!

Out with old outdated cockspur handles and in with a stylish black design that's a lot more in keeping with the customer...

Out with old outdated cockspur handles and in with a stylish black design that's a lot more in keeping with the customers aesthetic of the property. These were fitted all over and made the windows that are 30yrs old look brand new again.

On top of this was a complete changeover of most of the hinges due to rust and wear and tear. As you can see from the pictures, no rust and working like a dream!

These windows should now last another 30yrs!
