A fantastic morning celebrating the power of inspiring the next generation! This week, we were proud to be invited to the Believe in Your Future Ambassador Celebration Event Wigan Council, recognising the amazing work being done through the programme. It was brilliant to be part of such a positive event and to see four of our staff members featured on the board!

We’d like to say a huge thank you to the Believe in Your Future team for inviting us and for all the work they continue to do organising these valuable sessions in schools.

With GCSE Results Day today, it’s a great reminder of the importance of helping young people understand the many different pathways and career opportunities available to them. Hopefully, through our talks and sharing our experiences, we may have inspired some young people to enrol at Wigan & Leigh College and take their first steps towards an exciting career in construction👷‍♂️🏗️

We’re looking forward to getting back into schools and delivering even more sessions, with more members of our workforce getting involved, in the next academic year!

Last Friday JJH were delighted to support and sponsor this fantastic fundraising evening in aid of Wigan & Leigh Hospice, held at Aspull Royal British Legion.

It was brilliant to see so many people come together to enjoy a great evening of food, entertainment, music and community spirit, all while raising money for Wigan and Leigh Hospice.
A huge thank you to everyone who attended, donated and supported the event alongside us, including GHE Electrical, Fire & Security Ltd and Overbury. Everyone’s generosity and support made the evening such a success.

We’d also like to say a special thank you to everyone who helped make the event happen, including:
👏 Cllr Chris Ready, Cllr Laura Flynn (Aspull, New Springs & Whelley Labour Councillors) and Emily Morris, Community Fundraiser, for organising and putting together such a fantastic evening.
👏 Christine and Chelsea, the wonderful hospice volunteers, for helping everything run so smoothly on the night.
👏 Elsie and the team at Aspull Royal British Legion for hosting us and helping create such a welcoming venue.
👏 Matty Peet from Wigan Warriors and Brenda Spencer from Wigan Athletic for joining us and taking part in a really insightful Q&A.
👏 Ryan James, or, as you might know him, Bert, our Clearance and Cleans Manager, for providing the live music and getting us up on the dance floor!
👏 Neil Hilton for the karaoke and entertainment

At JJH, we're proud to have played our part in supporting and attending an event that brought the local community together and raised much-needed funds for Wigan and Leigh Hospice.

Earlier this year, JJH partnered with the Wigan Supporting Skills and Futures Team at Wigan Council to provide a supported work experience opportunity for Byron, a young resident from Ince with a keen interest in diesel engines and vehicle maintenance🚐

Byron is currently undertaking his 12 week placement within JJH’s fleet maintenance operations, working closely alongside our onsite mechanic and Fleet Manager, Warrick.

With support from his employment coach, Hannah, Byron has been introduced to a live working garage environment, where he is developing valuable practical skills in vehicle maintenance and repair, workshop safety as well as teamwork and communication.

Support is gradually being reduced as Byron becomes more confident and familiar with the workplace. This staged approach is helping him gain experience, particularly with Ford Transits and Vauxhaul Vivaro vans!

At JJH Building Contractors, we’re proud to support local young people with SEND by providing meaningful workplace experience, skills development and exposure to potential future career pathways. We look forward to continuing to support Byron throughout his placement and seeing what he achieves next👏

Celebrating our July Employees of the Month! 🎉

July was such a busy month at JJH, we couldn't pick just one winner, so we have three! Congratulations to Ste Hill, Derek Holt and Craig Ashton!

⭐ Ste Hill consistently receives outstanding feedback from Riverside Group for going above and beyond to support tenants facing extremely difficult living conditions. Ste’s dedication and compassion make a real difference to those he supports.

⭐ Derek Holt & Craig Ashton were recently recognised for their compassion and quick thinking after assisting an elderly gentleman who had suffered a fall and stayed until an ambulance arrived. Their willingness to step in and help when someone needed it most is a fantastic example of going above and beyond.

A huge well done to all three of you! Your kindness, dedication and commitment to helping others are a real credit to you and the team.

An exciting day at JJH HQ today!🔋

This morning we've had 2 electric Ford Transit Customs dropped off by the wonderful team at Dawsongroup Vans. These additions to our fleet support our ongoing commitment to reducing our environmental impact while continuing to provide a reliable service.

A big thank you to the team at Dawsongroup Vans for their support throughout the process. We're looking forward to putting these new EVs to work!
