🚧 Milestone Reached at Birstall Lidl Development 🏗️

Week 13 on site and the project continues to gather strong momentum, with a key milestone achieved — the steel frame now erected, and the building footprint fully realised.
Alongside this, 90% of the base and binder tarmac is now in, giving real definition to the external layout and marking a major step forward in the overall site infrastructure.

The latest aerial views highlight:
✅ Structural frame installation nearing completion
✅ Floor slab and internal layout clearly defined
✅ 90% base & binder complete across the car park
✅ External works progressing at pace

This stage represents a pivotal transition — moving from early groundworks into a fully visible structure, while simultaneously advancing the surrounding infrastructure. The coordination across trades to reach this point safely and efficiently is a huge achievement.
With superstructure now established, focus shifts on cladding, roofing and internal fit-out, keeping the project firmly on course for completion later this year.

We are pleased to share that works are set to commence on a new Lidl retail store in Telford, with construction starting on 7th April 2026.

Situated on a prominent, well-connected site, the development will transform vacant land into a high-quality retail destination for the local community.

The initial six weeks will involve a 70,000-ton muck shift.

Our scope includes:
• Earthworks and site preparation
• Drainage installation
• Foundations and ground slab
• Structural steel frame
• Roof and cladding envelope
• Mechanical and electrical installations
• Internal partitions and tiling
• Final fit-out

With completion scheduled for January 2027, we look forward to delivering this project from inception to a fully operational retail space.

Our largest project to date!

Following the successful completion of land remediation works, we are pleased to announce that construction has now commenced on site for the delivery of new Lidl and Home Bargains stores.

This 32-week programme will deliver an additional 53,000 sq ft of high-quality retail space, further enhancing and diversifying the retail offering within the Birstall area.

Another project successfully completed for our valued client Jonny Brownridge at Bridge Estates.

The former Eco Lab building in Garforth has been transformed into three high-quality commercial units, bringing new life and flexibility to the site.

Civil engineering and groundworks were delivered by the Stonedale team.

After a busy 2025, it was great to spend time with some of our fantastic team today enjoying go-karting and pizza in Leeds. A well-deserved break and a great reminder of the people behind the progress.

Well done to Trident Construction on completing a full restoration of the Grade II listed Old Stables in Long Eaton, Nottingham.
A lot of hard work involved, however the end result looks fantastic.
Groundworks, drainage and surfacing works undertaken by Stonedale.
