We’re pleased to welcome a new addition to our workshop at Cairnhill — the MACFAB SYSTEMS LTD 75 Baler.

Designed to bale cardboard, paper and plastic film, this machine will help our stores team manage and recycle the waste materials generated through our daily operations. With a hydraulic lever and timer controls, the baler will efficiently compact materials, helping us to reduce waste disposal by up to 90%.

This new investment is an important step towards improving our sustainability and recycling efforts, whilst also reducing clutter to create a cleaner, safer and more organised working environment for our Stores team.

A great new addition to Cairnhill and a positive step further toward a more sustainable workplace.

Brucie! … Bruce!!! Where have you gone? 🐾

Oh, that’s right… Scottie the Bruce has been on the march! 🏴⚔️

After wandering his way through Glasgow this weekend, our Highland Hero has now taken up his last position — and he’s staying put for one extra week on Level 2 of Buchanan Galleries, as he continues his mission to defend the city and champion an incredible cause.

As one of Scotland’s great defenders, Wee Brucie knows a thing or two about standing by those who need support — and this week, his battle is all about helping Maggie's Glasgow reach even more people who may need their care and support.

He’s certainly found his paws on this adventure, but now it’s time for our loyal little hero to guard his final post! 🐾 So, if you’re heading into Buchanan Galleries this week, make sure you stop by and pay our Highland Hero a visit!

After all his adventures defending Glasgow throughout the trail, Scottie the Bruce will soon be returning to his castle for a well-earned rest… but for one more week, our Highland Hero stands strong — and keeps his paws firmly planted! 🏴⚔️🐾

Today, we celebrated Gordon Muircroft, one of our loyal Fabricators, as he begins his well-earned retirement after 10 years with Cairnhill.

Throughout his career, Gordon has demonstrated unwavering dedication and commitment to his trade, while also playing an important role in Cairnhill’s journey and continued project success. His hard work, determination and willingness to support those around him have made a lasting impression on both the company and his colleagues.

Gordon’s strong sense of teamwork, exceptional work ethic and genuine care for others have made him a truly valued member of our team. His knowledge, experience and contribution over the years will be greatly missed by everyone at Cairnhill.

Gordon, we would like to sincerely thank you for your many years of service, as well as for your kindness, support and dedication to your trade. It has been a pleasure to have you as part of the Cairnhill team.

It’s been a productive week so far at the Sun Works Facility, with two major new machines being brought online in our project bays. Our new Morgan Rushworth XS 3015 10.0kW Fibre Laser Cutting Machine and Hartford Blockbuster double-column, bridge-type CNC Vertical Machine are currently being installed, commissioned and prepared for production.

These machines are about more than simply increasing our steelwork capacity. They significantly strengthen our ability to manufacture larger, more complex components with greater precision and, where possible, complete multiple operations in a single set-up.

The result of this investment is to increase efficiency, flexibility and control across our workshop, giving us greater capability when it comes to challenging components and larger-scale project work — from laser cutting through to CNC machining.

With our latest investment, this will support our continued focus on precision engineering, continuous improvement, and smarter manufacturing – expanding what we can deliver in-house and strengthening our capability as a one-stop-shop solution for complex steelwork.

From start to end, this penstock pool section at Drumjohn Hydro Power Plant has been one project that our team has truly powered through!⚡

Designed to provide safe and straightforward access for future inspections and maintenance, the project is a great showcase of quality workmanship, engineering excellence and collaborative delivery.

Working alongside our client AmcoGiffen, on behalf of Drax Group UK, we’re proud to have played our part in supporting the long-term performance and resilience of this renewable energy asset, helping to keep the flow of clean power moving.⚡

From the first stages of construction through to completion, the project has been driven by momentum, collaboration and a shared commitment to quality delivery. A powerful result from all teams involved, and a project we’re proud to have been part of.

From wag-worthy designs to colourful creativity around every corner, the trail has brought so much joy, wonder, and fun to the city, all while raising vital awareness and funds for those who need it most.🫶

Cairnhill is thrilled to announce that our Framing Division has secured a new contract, having been appointed by McLaughlin & Harvey Ltd to deliver the SFS framing package for Phase 2 of the Trinity Academy Replacement project in Edinburgh.

This 16-week, £453,000 project will see Cairnhill deliver a comprehensive SFS package, including the external wall framing, two canopies, and a feature glulam lantern. The package incorporates Hadley Building Products Metal, Siniat by Etex Weather Defence Board and External Sheathing Board, along with A.Proctor Group Ltd. Wraptite UV External Breather Membrane.

The Trinity Academy redevelopment, designed by Holmes Miller, will transform the school campus to create modern, collaborative spaces that support learning, social interaction, and wellbeing. Designed with sustainability and inclusivity at its core, the new facility will reduce energy demand while enhancing opportunities for both digital and outdoor learning.

We are proud to continue supporting the development of Scotland's education sector and look forward to commencing works in the coming weeks.
