One of the most enjoyable things we do at our facility is welcoming school students to see manufacturing first-hand.
Throughout the year, we open our doors to primary schools, secondary schools and other educational groups, giving young people the chance to see what engineering looks like in practice.
And recently, we added something new to the experience: a virtual welding simulator.
With a headset on, students can try their hand at simulated welding, putting their skills to the test and often sparking a bit of healthy competition along the way.
But these visits are about more than trying something new.
They’re an opportunity to introduce young people to engineering from an early age, show them the variety of careers available and help them picture what a future in manufacturing could look like.
Our team gets involved too, sharing their experiences and talking about the work they do every day.
And when the students visiting us happen to be the children of our own team members, it makes the experience even more special.
It’s a great way to bring manufacturing to life, inspire the next generation and give young people a closer look at what’s possible in engineering.
