GCSEs are a big moment. It’s okay not to have everything figured out yet.

June can feel like a lot.

Exams are happening, questions about the future start coming up, and not everyone knows what their next step looks like yet.

If you’re thinking about practical routes into engineering or manufacturing, apprenticeships are one option worth understanding.

But there’s no pressure to decide everything right now.

Often, the best first step is simply talking to employers, asking questions, and exploring what opportunities might be available for September.

If you have any questions about apprentices, drop a comment or send us a message 🤝

Hey engineers! 🚀 Did you know that more apprentices are diving into diverse tasks than ever before? 🌟

That's why honing your turning and milling skills is a game-changer, not just for machinists, but for roles in maintenance, mechatronics, and CAD too! 🛠️

It's all about practical, hands-on training that lets you truly grasp how machines tick and apply those insights back on the job. 💡

If your role is expanding, chat with your employer about upskilling options like turning and milling.

Your future self will thank you! 🙌

Welding remains a critical skill across manufacturing...

and the way those skills are developed matters.

Our welding courses are designed to be hands‑on and practical, giving learners the opportunity to work with real equipment and processes.

Training covers core welding methods, including MIG/MAG, MMA and TIG, with a focus on:

- carrying out welds safely and correctly
- understanding process variables and setup
- improving consistency and repeatability in practice

This approach helps learners build skills they can apply back in the workplace, supporting quality, reliability and long‑term capability within teams.

The image below shows a delegate taking part in one of our welding courses developing technique through practical application in a controlled training environment.

When teams invest in upskilling, outcomes matter.

Across our upskilling courses, learners leave with clear, practical differences they can apply back in the workplace:

• Greater confidence in technical understanding
Learners understand how systems work and can explain what they’re doing, not just follow instructions.

• Practical experience they can apply at work
Learners practise real tasks using real equipment, so skills transfer directly back on site.

• Clear next steps for continued development
Learners leave knowing what to build on next, helping employers plan progression rather than one‑off training.

• Stronger safe and effective working practices
Learners carry out work more safely and consistently, following correct procedures and good practice.

If you’re booking training to make a real difference on site, clarity around outcomes makes all the difference.

Behind every great engineer is a trainer who really knows their stuff.

Meet Godwin Benedict, one of our expert engineering trainers, bringing over 10 years of academic and hands‑on teaching experience to the classroom.

Godwin’s background spans mechanical engineering, advanced manufacturing and applied research, with a Master’s by Research focused on CFD analysis, alongside specialist degrees in industrial refrigeration and cryogenic engineering.

But what really sets him apart?
✅ A student‑centred teaching style
✅ Strong focus on problem‑ and project‑based learning
✅ The ability to turn complex engineering theory into practical, real‑world understanding

Godwin has taught across leading UK institutions including Oxford Brookes University, London South Bank University, and New College Swindon, and now delivers training in areas such as fluid power, PLCs, CAD/CAM, CNC programming, robotics and mechatronics.

He’s also been recognised for his leadership and cross‑team collaboration, recently receiving praise at executive level for mentoring learners and successfully managing complex technical projects.

In short: deep technical expertise, real industry relevance, and a genuine passion for developing engineers.
