The latest National Water Safety Forum WAID data paints a sobering picture.

In 2025, there were 202 accidental drowning deaths across the UK, resulting in over 8,000 years of life lost. The majority occurred inland (57%), with males accounting for 85% of fatalities. Young men aged 20–29 remain the highest-risk group.

Most incidents happened during recreational activities (63%), while nearly a third (32%) occurred during everyday activities.

Tragically, six people lost their lives over the recent Bank Holiday weekend, including five teenagers who entered the water to cool off.

These statistics are a reminder that water can be dangerous, even on warm days.

πŸ’™ If you find yourself struggling in the water: FLOAT TO LIVE.
βœ” Tilt your head back
βœ” Relax and control your breathing
βœ” Move your hands and feet gently to stay afloat

πŸ’™ If you see someone in trouble:
πŸ“ž PHONE emergency services
πŸ—£ FLOAT - encourage them to float on their back
πŸ›Ÿ THROW something that will help them float

Please share these lifesaving messages. One conversation could save a life.

If you need to upgrade your safety equipment please reach out to us - we are here to help πŸ’™
