🔨 Big structural milestone on this transformation project.

The knock-through is now complete and ready for the contemporary rear extension. Over the last few days we've carefully removed the existing rear wall, installed the structural steelwork, and created a clear 6-metre span across the back of the house.

These photos show the process from temporary propping and demolition through to the installation of the steel beam that will open up the entire ground floor. Once the extension is built and the glazing is in place, this space will be transformed into a bright, open-plan living area with uninterrupted views to the garden.

A lot of planning, engineering, and precision goes into creating openings of this size safely, but the results are always worth it.

Roof complete… almost! 🏡✨

The natural slate roof is now finished, with just one bat slate left to fit. The quality and character of the natural slate really shines through and gives the whole build a premium, timeless look.

A huge well done to Carl for another excellent job — the attention to detail and craftsmanship are clear to see.

Looking forward to getting that final slate & ridges in place and calling it 100% complete.

Welcome to the team, Kian! 👏🔨

We're delighted to welcome Kian to the Pearwood team.
After spending two years at college studying carpentry, Kian found himself unable to secure an apprenticeship despite his commitment and enthusiasm for the trade that suited his capability & skills. His father reached out to us, and we were more than happy to give him the opportunity he deserved.

Kian's story highlights a wider issue within the construction industry. With an ageing workforce and an ongoing shortage of skilled labour, more needs to be done to help young people access apprenticeships and practical training opportunities.

The future of our industry depends on investing in the next generation of tradespeople. By creating more pathways into skilled trades, we can help ensure a strong, knowledgeable, and high-quality workforce for years to come.
We're excited to be part of Kian's journey and look forward to seeing him develop his skills with us.
