Diff centre lathe work has been finished, next it goes on the mill for a final fettle then the slotter for a keyway. Its a nice tight fit on back axle.

Nice little job for a local model engineer, smokebox front ring for his Thomas 2 locomotive.

After having a few weeks away in the Caravan to explore south Wales then Bury areas i've managed to get into work again slowly, last week saw the Diff Centre chucked in the lathe for machining. The engine will have a diff at some point, just not straight away as need to work out bevel gear machining first! Next is the 3 inch bore for the rear axle and a key way to do.

Bit of rearranging in the garage at home to free up some much needed space sees the box pan folder on the wall!

Been working on getting the crankshaft housings fitted to the horn plate this week, but to do this I need to set the 3RD shaft gears up to make sure I have the correct backlash, here's the 3rd shaft gear hub now finished and ready for the 2 gears tobe shrunk on.

All bearings fitted in the housings and squared up to check the lengths with crankshaft and 2nd shaft fitted.

On a roll, well the crankshaft is now! Finally the last 2 big split bronze bearings done and fitted to crank, my engine is at work so will start fitting tomorrow ready to align the bearing housing in the horn plates. In the back ground the part machined connecting rods can be seen.
