Remsdaq are proudly celebrating St. David’s Day with a splash of Welsh spirit at our Goods-in hatch, beautifully decorated by Kim, our Logistics General Operative.

The area has been brightened with vibrant daffodils (Wales’ national flower), a small Welsh dragon, and the iconic Welsh flag taking centre stage.

St. David’s Day is celebrated every year on 1st March in honour of St. David (Dewi Sant), the patron saint of Wales. His famous last words, “Do the little things,” continue to inspire people across Wales today.

A big thank you to Kim for putting together such a fantastic display and helping everyone get into the St. David’s Day spirit.

Fun Fact Friday! Did you know?

In 2002, Japanese researcher Tsutomu Matsumoto discovered that gelatine, the same ingredient that gives gummy bears their chew, could trick early fingerprint scanners into thinking it was a real finger.

He created a mould from a lifted fingerprint, poured in gelatine, and the scanner happily granted access. The success rate was approximately 80%.

It worked because gelatine has a similar moisture content and conductivity to human skin, which meant older biometric sensors could not tell the difference.
While early scanners were vulnerable, modern biometric systems, like the ones we provide, use advanced technology to ensure reliable security. The gummy bear hack remains a fun reminder of the evolution of access control.
