While working in Surrey this week we received a call from a customer who’s machine would not boot up to the operating software so today we diverted and visited to see if we could help.

We started checking by all connections and then stripped out the PC to access the internals and hard drive, no obvious burnt out connections or broken wires present so we have removed the PC and will run tests and try to repair this weekend.

We’re working on another two machines in Surrey today, firstly a GMM Extra for the supply and fit of a new toolstore sensor following failure through water ingress and corrosion, this machine also required supply and fit of a digital vacuum gauge .

The second GMM Extra had been suffering grease alarms recently so investigation was carried out of the system and unfortunately it was found grease was arriving at the main distributor but nothing was being emitted through the grease lines.
New grease block on order with return visit soon.

Another customer in Surrey today for the supply and installation of new lower X axis bearings on a GMM Brio and removal of the air conditioner for refurbishment.

We knew the bearings were in poor condition because of the noise during movement and the amps being pulled in order to move the axis, but we did not expect them to be this bad !

Hardly any ball bearings left in the linear carriage 😳.

New units installed and machine calibrated .

Visited London today to investigate inaccuracies in work being produced on a GMM Extra 480, unfortunately for the customer we found the rails of the machine to be 6mm out of level over an 8 foot distance which is extremely out of tolerance.

Return visit planned to re-level and calibrate accordingly.

More calibration issues today on a GMM Extra, customer reported work with mitres being upto 4mm under or over sized.
After several tests and recalibrations the root cause was found to be a blade measure device providing false readings, now resolved and last test cut was 400x 400 perfect to size.
