We’re proud to have played our part in the delivery of Coalburn 1, a landmark Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project that is set to become the largest operational BESS in Europe.

Our team was proud to deliver the civil infrastructure works supporting this major development, working collaboratively with the wider project team to help deliver a complex and nationally significant energy asset.

With a capacity of 500 MW / 1,000 MWh, Coalburn 1 will play an important role in supporting the integration of renewable energy, strengthening grid resilience and helping Scotland progress towards its net-zero ambitions.

Projects of this scale demonstrate the importance of high-quality civil infrastructure in enabling the energy transition, and we’re delighted to have contributed to one of the UK’s most significant BESS developments.

Glenturas is delighted to share that we have donated £8,620 to Dunbar Dunbar Grammar School to support three fantastic initiatives, as part of wider community action linked to the EGL1 project. Luke Hanlon and Ethan McGlinchey represented Glenturas' EGL1 project management team during a visit to the school to meet John Johnstone, Headteacher, and some of the school's dedicated young volunteers, to make the donation. Many thanks to Sue Anderson from Developing Young Workforce (East Lothian Works) and the Prysmian team for bringing these initiatives to our attention.

This funding will help deliver the following:

Breakfast Club - giving pupils a breakfast before the school day begins, while providing a welcoming space where those who need additional support can access care and nurture.

Dunbar Dinners - a much-loved weekly initiative that brings together local older residents and young volunteers for a home cooked two course meal. Since 2019, the programme has aimed to reduce loneliness and social isolation while giving pupils the opportunity to develop confidence, life skills and meaningful connections within their community.

Holiday Programme - supporting disadvantaged young people throughout every school holiday by providing a nutritious meal each day, a safe and supportive environment, and opportunities to take part in activities, build friendships, and enjoy being children. Our donation will also help cover increased transport costs, ensuring the programme can continue to offer a full range of activities throughout the year.

At Glenturas, we're committed to creating a positive impact in the communities where we work. We're delighted that this donation will support people across generations and help these valued programmes continue making a difference within Dunbar and the East Lothian area.

EGL1 is a joint venture between SP Energy Networks and National Grid Electricity Transmission to build a 2GW HVDC connection between Scotland and England.

We’re proud to have been selected by H&MV Engineering to help play a key role in the delivery of the Oweninny Wind Farm Phase 3 Project.

Appointed by H&MV Engineering to deliver the civil works package for the new Oweninny phase 3 110kV substation and associated infrastructure.

H&MV Engineering is proud to be delivering the Electrical Balance of Plant (EBoP) works for BnM’s Oweninny Wind Farm Phase 3 in North Mayo, a key renewable energy project enabling industrial and economic growth and supporting Ireland’s clean energy transition.

Phase 3 will see the development of the new Craoghaun West 110 kV A.I.S two-bay extendable substation alongside the Oweninny Phase 3 IPP substation, which will house a 110/33 kV, 120 MVA transformer. The project also includes a 5.2 km grid connection and a new wind farm consisting of 18 turbines enabling integration of an additional 110 MWs of renewable generation into the national grid.

H&MV Engineering’s scope includes a substantial enabling works package to facilitate the construction of both the EBoP and CBoP scopes. Our team will also supply, install, and commission the full electrical infrastructure required for safe and reliable operation, including high-voltage equipment, transformers, switchgear, control and protection systems, cabling, and all grid connection works.

The 5.2 km underground grid route will connect the new 110 kV Craoghaun West substation to the existing Bellacorrick substation.

This project represents a significant milestone in Ireland’s renewable energy infrastructure, supporting long-term sustainability and grid resilience.

Everyone at Glenturas are delighted to see Charlotte officially join us as a graduate after completing her BSc (Hons) in Environmental Management at Glasgow Caledonian University. 🎓

Charlotte joined us two years ago on placement and continued to work with us part-time alongside her studies.

Her placement allowed her to gain valuable hands-on experience, become an integral part of the team, and put her learning into practice in a real working environment. It's been fantastic to watch her confidence, knowledge and skills grow throughout that journey.

This achievement is thoroughly deserved, and we look forward to seeing her continue to develop throughout her career.

A big thank you to Glasgow Caledonian University for facilitating placements that enable students to gain invaluable industry experience while helping employers support and develop the next generation of professionals.

Hard hats on and ready to explore!! We welcomed Honey Bees preschool to our site in M**f Village yesterday.

The boys and girls got kitted out in hi-vis vests and hard hats, and even received their very own ‘Junior Safe Pass’ cards before touring the site and seeing some of our machinery in action 🚜🏗️
From diggers and dumpers to teleporters, there was plenty of excitement throughout their visit.

We also had indoor and outdoor construction play areas set up, giving the children a fun, hands-on experience while learning more about construction and site safety 🛠️✨

A huge thank you to Honey Bees Preschool for visiting us, and to our team who helped make the day so enjoyable for everyone involved. It was brilliant to see so many smiles and curious little minds asking lots of great questions 😊👏

Hopefully we inspired a few future construction workers along the way!
