It never seems a good idea to light a fire right In The centre of a thatch property even more so if it’s not safe. The amount of thatch properties in Wiltshire that don’t have the installations and chimneys up to regs is concerning.

Is the chimney lined with an insulated liner?

Is the top of the chimney 1.8m from the thatch?

Quite often getting clearance to combustibles can be challenging but thankfully there’s options to leave oak beams in place like adding insulated flue to allow the installation to pass regs. Love the hand made bricks and chunky hearth on this one.

Before and after! It’s jobs and customers like this that make me forget I actually work for a living. A total re-design of a fireplace swapping out an old 90s fireplace - replacing with a contemporary bath stone surround handcrafted here in Wiltshire by local craftsmen and ladies! A solid 30mm thick Welsh slate hearth at a whopping 1.5 wide, to create a focal point in the room, and finally of course the British made Clock Sudbury can you get anymore locally sourced than this?
