We are currently getting inundated with calls about low water pressure and no water - Bessacarr and Town Moor areas. If you are affected, we expect Yorkshire Water must have a serious leak and have cut supplies.

Guys, experiencing an high call volume regarding boilers not working this morning.

It’s likely to be a frozen condensate, if you are hearing a bubbling/noise.....

To resolve this issue run ‘warm’ water from a boiled kettle or use an hairdryer to warm the pipe up. Look for a plastic pipe outside under the boiler flue.

We cannot stress the importance of a good service. Here’s a Baxi boiler that was not serviced. Subsequently the burner seal perished and set several components on fire within the boiler. This could have ended up much worse... photos courtesy of Malcom Codling (a friendly, fellow Gas Safe Engineer)

Six things to do if your pipes freeze....

1. Turn on the taps
2. Warm the room
3. Heat the pipe gently
4. Check for leaks
5. Find out where your stopcock is and check it works properly
6. Don’t be afraid to call us, if in doubt - get in touch!
