few more snippets from the large farmhouse renovation last year.
This oak frame ended up looking stunning its simplistic design in the end complimented and highlighted the beautiful sliding glazing supplied by . all made and constructed in house the lads really enjoyed pulling this together.
This job had some massive challenges to overcome, which in the most part overshadowed this extremely bowed and out plumb wall.

we recently had the pleasure of working on this lovely little 18th centuary gate house on the Moor critchel estate.
The existing front wall had subsided causing the oak timber frame above to sag which caused substantial deflection in the roof.
internal props were installed to secure the structure and then the front wall was carefully removed, salvaging as many bricks as possible to be reinstated.
The existing oak frame was beyond repair, so it was also removed.
After carrying out ground consolidation and a new footing design, the masonry wall was reconstructed utilising the original bricks and a matching lime mortar with guaged Ash content.
Ben and Neil then made short work of re-creating the oak frame detail and getting the front elevation ready for new lime render coats.
all front panels were restored and new hand finished lime cill detail added to avoid future damage to the masonry and oak sole plate.
what a stunning part of the countryside to work in and great to be reinstating things in such a sympathetic nature.
