This maybe helpful to some of my customers.
Take note that you do not need to be in receipt of ANY benefits to rake advantage of this. But you may have to explain your situation, as well as provide evidence your tank is below 30% full, and explain that filling your tank would create family hardship.
Help is available for low‑income households in Dorset who rely on heating oil and are struggling with rising costs.
If you are facing a heating oil crisis, for example, your tank is at 30% or less and you cannot afford an urgent top‑up - you may be eligible for support through the Government’s Crisis and Resilience Fund.
A household may be considered on low income if either of the following applies:
they are receiving:
➡️ Universal Credit
➡️ Pension Credit (Guarantee Credit)
➡️ Housing Benefit
➡️ Council Tax Support
OR
✅ the household does not have sufficient resources to resolve the immediate crisis without incurring unmanageable debt or going without essentials such as food.
You need to meet all of the following to apply:
➡️ you are the main household resident responsible for buying oil to heat your property
➡️ your main heating source is oil
➡️ you are on a low income
➡️ you are at immediate risk of being unable to heat your home or access hot water due to rising oil costs
➡️ the capacity reading on your oil tank is at 30% or less
➡️ the property must be your main and only place of residence.
More details and and the application form are available on our website. Find through the first link in our comments.
